Bought a 1995 jeep grand cherokee orvis . it has no keeless remote, just keys.installed new battery and the security must be on.all lights inside and out are blinking.on and off. how do i reset security.

Try turning the key..unlock-lock-unlock in the rear tailgate lock. That should turn off the factory security system.
If it's an aftermarket alarm system, you will need an alarm installer's help in determining what type and model alarm it is, before you can figure out how to shut it off.

1995 Jeep Cherokee: I left the tailgate open for a few hours. Now, the security system will not let me start the engine.

Hmmm, I haven't heard that one in a while. Easy fix. Pop your hood and disconnect the negative batter terminal for 10 seconds or longer, then reattach. You may need to reprogram in your radio stations.

Tailgate doesn't open

the most likely failure is the tailgate lock actuator, the tailgate will have to be taken apart from inside (very difficult)

2000 cherokee tailgate will not open, how do you open it?

Did You open the back window first? when the window is open You should be able to turn the key lock. If not check to make shure Your power locks are unlocked. If that all fails then it is jammed. Take it to a car repair shop. They will open it for You. Good luck.

Can't open the tailgate on my 1999 jeep grand cherokee lorado. can't unlock it.

Hose the inside of lock cylinder with WD-40 and try again. If this doesn't work, attack it from the inside. Remove inside door trim, remove retaining clip that holds the lock in place then pop it out.

96 jeep Grand Cherokee tailgate will not open

This is kind of tricky. OK let's start, you have to crawl into the rear hatch area from the inside of the car. You'll have to pull the rear panel off the hatch, a screwdriver between the panel and hatch near the window will work. There might be 2 screws on the panel you could take out. The trick is to pull the panel far away enough to stick your arm down towards the latch and release it by hand. We did this at the dealer all the time.
