Hello, I have 1992 jeep wrangler, i was feeling a slight sticking point half way up during the release of my clutch weeks ago and it seemed to go away. Yesterday my clutch pedal seemed to sit almost an inch lower than usual and in relation to my brake pedal. My shifting still seems fine, just seems like there is no wasted travel to engage the shift. Today the pedal seems to sit a little bit higher than the lowpoint yesterday???? Do you have some advice or a probable problem with the system? Thanks!

Hey.This is just a long shot. The throwout bearing may be sticking. Its attached to the clutch fork and contacts the pressure plate. It slides along a shaft and the shaft may me sticking up,holding the bearing in the wrong spot.I have seen it happen.A VERY SMALL squirt of wd40 can fix it.You have to know where to put it.Not so much it gets on the clutch plate.Ask a friend or anyone that may know before you do it.This is your 1st option before you have to do any mechanical work on the car.It costs NOTHING.Check it before a workshop rips you off.Hope this helps you

I was driving to work this morning and was in 3rd gear, went to down shift at a stop sign and its stuck in 3rd gear. 1988 jeep wrangler. It has been grinding the gear for a few weeks now everytime I change...

The 3rd Gear Synchro is worn or damaged, which is why it grinds when you try to upshift or downshift into 3rd gear. When it goes out completely you will have a very hard time shifting into 3rd gear, since the Synchro lines up the gears to make shifts smooth and easy.
