Check fuse panel under dash and under hood it should say instrument illumination or even tail lights check to see if tail lights work
What kind of vehicle do you have? I think the tail lights might be on the same fuse as dash lights but not in all cases. My tail lights were a blown fuse but did not help with the dash lights. 1995 Dodge Dakota 4x4 V-8 Magnum. The fuse for the tail lights was number 8 under the dash by the hood release
