My 1992 lexus es 300 overheats after i get off the freeway. the temp gauge sits in the normal position until i get off the freeway. i run the heat on hot and at full blast regardless of the temp outside and i notice that the air cools down when it starts to overheat. i replaced the thermastat 2 days ago and the temp was fine until this afternoon.

Sounds like you could be low on coolant, even more so because the air starts to cool down, check coolant level with engine cold, never open a radiator when hot.

My 1992 Lexus ES300 overheats after driving it a short distance (4 miles). Checked radiator, hoses, all looks good and no leaks. Please tell me what else could cause the engine to overheat.

If you see no leaks and the fluid level is also good in the rad overflow bottle. It could be the water pump. When the car is running do you feel the hoses are hot and pressurized. Do you feel heat with your heater cranked up. The coolant may not be circulating. This would mean you need a new water pump, most likely the impeller is worn/broken inside. It can be fixed by yourself but will require some skill and time.

Just replaced radiator, but temp. gauge is rising to the red line

preform a pressurized collant flush , take it to a raidior shop to have it done , they will clean and blow out all blockages that might cause your car to over heat. also check to make sure you dont have air pockets in your anit freeze, if you do you need to bleed the system out after you have it flushed , your car should have a blead valve to let out the axcess air ,if not drive it down the road with the cooaint overflow cap off , not the radiator but you need to flush out the system first , add new anti freeze then bleed out all air pockets, hope this helps

Check engine light on in 93 Lexus

The only way to check why the check engine light is on is to have autozone or a mechanic put a scanner on the car and read the engine codes. This will tell you exactly what is wrong. Many part stores will test it for free. Mechanics will charge about $40 But you will definately know exactly what the problem is.

If gauge is fine and car smells hot. It is probably due to plugged exhaust unless you have a wire laying on the exhaust manifold and it's melting.
