Hi- I need to know if the oil sending unit is bad in a 1999 chevy suburban 5.7L vortec will cause a no start condition?

No. The engine will still start, however if the sending unit is not working you will have no oil pressure and you will damage the motor and possibly lock it up. This vehicle can run with the unit not working correctly

Where is the oil pressure sending unit?

The oil pressure sending unit is located on the engine block, passenger side by the Distributor. Good luck and make sure you get the right sending unit, there is the simple unit that only turns on a low oil pressure light and the other will send signals to the oil pressure gauge.

Oil gauge on 2003 yukon denali vortec 6000 engine is either all the way to 80 or to 0. can it be the sending unit and where is it located?

on these it is above the oil filter housing underneath. the best way to tell is to have a "wet guage" installed to test what the actuall pressure is. if the oil pressure is to spec then the problem more then likely is the motor in the speedomemeter unit itself. they do have a problem with these little motors. all the guages use the same style motors. cheers

Oil pressure sending unit

Hi there;

Your looking foer the oil pressure sensor on the 2004 8.1L.
You will find it located directly behind the EGR valve threaded into the block just to the drivers side of the center bolt for the transmission to block connection.

Thanks
Farrout!

Sudden change in oil pressure gauge

DIAL IN CAB COULD BE AT FAULT, NEED TO GET ANOTHER DAIL GUAGE AND CONNECT TO SENDER, IF SAME COULD BE SENDER, IF STILL THE SAME, PRESSURE VALVE IN BLOCK STICKING DUE TO DIRT OR U/S, OR AT WORSE !!! ENGINE WORN, THIS WILL BE CONSTANT IN MOST CASES, FAULT IN GUAGES ARE NORM INTERMITANT.
