hi , do you think if I replace crank sensor will solve the problem ,my jeep .... Where's the crankshaft located in 99 jeep grand Cherokee laredo .
most cars its on the end of the cam.
you didnt post vin or engine option so can say.
but the cam has a sensor. that tells the ECU where #1 cylinder is.
is car a bravada or a jeep grand cherokee. , impossible to tell. PointsProblem with 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Where is the camshaft position sensor on a 1997
P0320-
Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Most likely a camshaft position sensor fault. You should have the vehicle diagnosed by a reputable repair facility.
P0340 JEEP - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit engine cylinder Bank 1 Sensor 1
Possible causes- Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted - Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection - Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor - Faulty starter motor - Starting system circuit - Dead (Weak) battery
Sometimes and in some models, low battery voltage or a weak starter can can trigger a Camshaft Position Sensor code.
Regarding your shifting problems: I replaced the output shaft speed sensor and fixed a 97 GC V8 Ltd that would not shift out of low gear - this is externally mounted on/near the outside of the tail shaft. I replaced a throttle position sensor (mounted on throttle body - a likely culprit) on an 87 Wag Ltd 4.0 and that fixed shifting problems similar to those you have described. Each of these parts is in the $25 price range - worth a try if you haven't ruled them out.
Yes, cause that sensor operates the electric cooling fans by the radiator, if those fans or fan don't come on, the radiator can't cool down as quick and causes the engine to run hotter.
The camshaft position sensor is located inside the distributor. It is a hall effect swich, simply remove the distributor cap and the rotor and you can lift it out, unplug and replace.
Have fun but beware a bad crankshaft position sensor can cause a false cam sensor code to be set sometimes.
Good luck.
My 97 cherokee catalytic converter was stolen, oxygen sensor wires cut. the replacement is black, grey and white. the jeep is different color. i need help knowing which wires get connected to which.
