My mirage won't change gears and feels like there is no clutch

Could be a worn out clutch or a failure of hydraulic if clutch is hydraulic . Check hydraulic fluid levels if hydraulic clutch if low and leaking master cylinder for clutch needs to be checked. Check clutch cable at wirewall in engine bay if cable driven. I have seen a car that had a surclip holding the cable and if the surclip broke the clutch cable did not work as it moved as it was used.

Can i view idle speed valve on polo petrol 2001 i get a flat spot when pull away and there is a broken tube coming from the idle valve i want to know where it goes

Are you talking about the throttle body butterfly valve? you can view that if you remove your air cleaner housing and pipe. There is a tube coming off the top of the outside of some air intakes...for egr. look for a hose coming from your valve cover that isnt attached to anything. or piece that broke off. this would cause an intake leak maybe. inside your intake there is a sort of tube, but if it broke you wouldnt see it, and it would go into your engine. Hope I helped a little anyways...try rephrasing the question.

85 toyota pickup clutch wont engage

The gear box should be okay. Check the clutch-watch if the clutch fork on the bell housing moves when someone presses the clutch. If it doesn't move, the cable needs adjusting, or if hydraulic clutch diagnose the clutch master and slave cylinders. Either one should cause the clutch fork to move and engage the clutch.

PrEngine is running, gearbox linkage can be seen moving looking down from engine - when driver puts lever into gear, gearbox not engaging - with or without clutch applied. Possible areas which could...

Unfortunately the problem will need investigating. There must be a problem with the flywheel / clutch assembly or the gearbox itself. The fact that you can move the gear linkage indicates that there is no drive in the gearbox ( ie not turning). The only items that effect this are the clutch / flywheel assembly or the primary shaft in the gearbox.
The gearbox will have to be removed and the above checked.

Pressure plate broke into 6 pieces.

extensive heat to the clutch from slipping dropping the clutch pedal from burn outs etc. yes the clutch exploded and the springs got wedged in between the pressure plate causing it to break.

Torn clutch cable hole in firewall

Is there a quick, ugly fix for the firewall, such as tacking in a heavier piece of steel with a hole drilled in it for the clutch cable?
I certainly would; a steel plate with predrilled holes (which would serve as a drilling template) could be safely hand-riveted to the fire wall. Riveting tools can be had for under $10 US and are often offered with a basic assortment of pop rivets.
You can see what is commonly available here:
Harbor Freight tools
This surely would have no influence on safety. Just make sure that the hole for the clutch cable grommet is snug so no water can pass into the passenger compartment.

My gear stick is limp or broken. The clutch is fine. There looks as though there was a plastic piece broken where the gear stick is. Is this the cause.

i had a 90 model excel and one of the shifter cables broke and caused a limp feeling on 2,4,R gears. The cable back then ran 250 to replace one cable and there are two of them in there.
