Have a '95 Saturn SL1 . started running hot and then dumped all the water out thru the reserve tank. Any ideas? water pump? Thermostat? Freezer plug? it was 12 degrees when I had to head out and it...

well you could have had a freeze up and crack in the block or head. when the ice block melts you get that. you could have a bad head gasket and the leaking compression is blowing through your cooling jacket. i think maybe you should call around to some recyclers and see if you can locate another engine or try and find a rebuilder.

Well then you need to get a new timing chain kit, and think about that water pump too, while you are in there. Kits are pretty cheap on ebay, and if you can pull a head you can replace the chain.

2001 saturn sl1 coolant leaked out at right front tire.

Hello, You probably have a leaking water pump, The water pump is on the backside of that end of the engine. You need a special tool to change the water pump. Thank you.

Install a water pump on 1995 Saturn

1) Drain coolant
2) Raise and support vehicle
3) Remove the passenger side wheel and inner splash guard
4) Remove A/C compressor attaching bolts and position aside
5) Place a 1" wood block between the crankshaft and water pump pulley and remove water pump bolts and allow pulley to hang on pump hub
6) Remove water pump attaching bolts, then remove water pump and discard gasket
7) Reverse procedure to install

Poor heater output. Engine temp is ok. Blower air flow if ok. The engine water pump was replaced, before that, no heat at all. Now heat, but poor. any ideas? This is a 1997 Saturn SL1

You may have a bad or corroded heater core...if the air flow is weak, bad blower motor...

View the video on You Tube by Richpin06a. It was very helpful. I don't do many repairs on cars, but with the help of this video, I replaced the waterpump on my Saturn last weekend. It was easy, and I didn't have to remove the engine.

I have a 2001 saturn sl and i purchased a repair book from parts store. My windshield washer pump is out and i need to replace. The book does not address this problem. How do i replace it?

First locate the washer fluid resevoir, if you can remove it the pump is usually connected to the bottom or side of the resevoir. just remove and replace the pump and then reinstall the resevoir.

It is under the timing chain cover. the serpentine belt and all that accompanying stuff has to be removed and/or disconnected. while you are doing this you may want to do the timing chain and sprockets too to avoid duplicating labor next year. The oil pump is also in there. This is a lot of work and not for the neophyte, the timing chain has to be put in maintaining proper relationship between the crank and cam shafts.
