Problem is probably in the DRL (daytime running light) System. There is a day/night sensor in this system that can go bad. It causes the dash lights to stay dim in the daytime making them unreadable because it is not sensing that it is daytime. Have the day/night sensor replaced. Tell the technician that it is in the DRL system. It cost me $90.00 on my car.
What happens when you turn the knob to brite/dim the dash lights?
nothing the dash light stay out radio and heater stay dim
so the lights dont change at all? they should go out or briten up, So does the knob feel likes its turning something? The dash, radio and a/c panel lights are all connected to that switch, so I dont know why some would be dim and others out.
Let me look up the wiring diagram tomorrow, I will let you know where to go next. Ted
So the fuse is good marked PANEL DIMMING 7.5 amp. How about the fog lamp switch, window controls, traction control, do these all light up dim or out? the radio and heater/ a/c controls are all run by the dimmer switch that you turn at the headlamp switch. If the fuse is good, the power goes from the fuse box to the headlamp switch (yellow wire) it then comes out of the switch (gray wire) to all the lights on that circuit. does the headlamp switch itseft light up? if not I would verify a good ground at G201 which is located just left of the steering column where it goes through the firewall.

the light do not change at all, they do not go out or brighten . The knob is turning the shaft of the switch.
The fuse is good. If there are lights on the fog light switch , window controls etc. they are not working. When i turn on the switch for the seat heater a light comes on showing me hi or low. The light in the dash indicating what gear its in is also on and so is the light showing me the mpg and due to empy, neither is affected buy turning the dimmer switch.
