i think p1647 is a generic code that is not a problem code but a system check code put in each time the ignition is switched on and will always be present if you have no eml/other function light on then no worries hope this helps
the p1647 is not a dodge code please check again by turning the key to the on position and off three times the third time your odometer will show you the codes
You can look up the code on www.bluejag.co.uk The problem is an O2 sensor (Bank 2 Upstream)and there are also details on the site about how to change it. Fairly simple job
That
P1647 fault code is for the upstream oxygen sensor on bank 2. This is the top
sensor on the front exhaust cat converter. The usual failure is the sensor
itself but you should inspect the harness that runs under and clipped to the
battery tray. It is the sensor with the gray connector Driveability will not be effected at the present, but it should be corrected in a timely manner to prevent damge to other componets, such as the catalytic converter.
Good luck, i hope this helps & thanks for using FixYa!
Action of ECM:- ECM Default:- HO2S 2/1 control circuit inhibited
After clearing the DTC, complete the Drive vehicle for 10 minutes Check for a reoccurrence of fault DTC.
Possible Fault:- HO2 Sensor 2/1 heater failure HO2 Sensor 2/1 sensing circuit: short circuit to ground, short circuit to high voltage, open circuit ECM Failure
hi, i work as a mechanic and have just had this code (p1647)on an 02 2.5 ltr x type. got the definition for 02 banks as well. as there are 2 sensors on each bank i took a look at the live data and it showed a slugish response on sensor two(after the cat). unplugging the sensor in the front cat brought up another code for bank two sensor two so this is obviously the right sensor. changed sensor and sent the car out, hope this helps, jon.
