95 dodge 2500 cummins. tranny rebuild 3 months ago, ran fine then a fitting broke and lost a lot of fluid. Took it back to tranny shop, they repaired and said they did not think it was damaged. I drove the truck a while longer with no problems. Ran fine shifted fine, then it started dropping out of lock up. Occasionally at first, then more frequently. Irradically. Turn a corner and drive 10 mile, might not do it a single time. Park it, next day , it might do it constantly. It does it in 3rd and 4th gear at highway speed. Took it back to transmission shop... they said a code 73 came up, but he can't find info on code 73............wow

SOURCE: 92 dodge ram 150 not shifting

Two things happen on the Dodge's. 1. the rear O2 sensor shorts out and meses things up. 2. the Inner seal on the Direct drum (3rd) shrinks and causes a delayed up shift.

SOURCE: wont shift out of lower gear

First thing I need to ask is when the filter & Fluid was last changed. If recently, Did they replace old fluid with ATF4 from Mopar/chrysler? Chrysler transmissions are very temperamental, especially with any other transmission fluid running in them, even though many mechanics, transmission places etc, may argue with me, it is a known fact. First, disconnect your + battery connection for a couple of minutes, then reconnect, and try that to see if it helps. If not, and fluid & filter haven't been changed in a while, I'd spend the money & have it done, but using only Mopar ATF4 from a Chrysler dealer.

SOURCE: 1999 dodge cummins 2500 front axel seals

you need to pull off wheels, brakes, rotor /unit hub bearing, both axles and intermediate shaft, as well as the vac disconnec ton the front axle tube. if only the right side leaks then only then only pull the right axle and intermediate shaft and vac disco. it is a trick with a miller tool to replace the seal. the left side seal is inside the diff and the carrier has to come out to replace it. pete

I put 5.9 cummins in my 1995 ram 2500 need to know how to alter a manual harness to fit an auto tranny any ideas

Find yourself a copy of both wiring diagrams and overlay one on the other in effect. Working out whats missing. Is it that difficult to get the right harness? Given the age I'd have thought there were junk yard offerings?

95 dodge caravan,no power taking off, not going into 4th gear, no heat.

sounds like the bands need adjusting and the valve body needs to be cleaned. parts store has a valve body kit but its not for faint hearted. tranny valve jobs must be done in clean organized area.other possibility is the trans-oil cooler inside radiator broke. that'll ruin tranny and cooling system. only link of tranny and heat is at trans-oil cooler in radiator

I have a 2004 dodge neon sx2.0 and last yeah I blew a tranny line and when I took it to a garage they said that my coolant mixed with my ATF fluid so they did all the work and it worked fine for a couple...

Try having a radiator shop look at the transmission cooler inside the radiator to see if it can be repaired. If not, then a new radiator is needed.

If i blew a tranny cooler line on my 2004 dodge ram cummins whats the chance it damages the transmission?

The chances are very good if you kept driving it. The trans pumps fluid through the lines to the cooler and back, so if a line broke the fluid is going on the ground and emptying the trans. Sorry for the answer, it's not likely what you wanted to hear. I would try filling it up after you fix the line and see what happens. I would put at least a full can of Lucas in it when I refilled it. Lucas says you can put as much as 2. Once you have it refilled, run it through the gears slowly right down to low and back up. Do this a couple times to make sure all the circuits are full of fluid. Most tranny fluid and filter changes take about 4-6 quarts to refill so you can judge from there. The more you have to put in the more likely there is damage. Hope this helps and good luck.

Tranny shudder low speed 35-45 mph

The shifting sequence releases one clutch as it engages the other, so it may be one or the other out of timing, so there is a partial engagement or disengagement. Does the tranny oil, on the dipstick smell burned, or feel significantly different than fresh fluid? How many miles on the fluid? What model 95 Dodge? Has the tranny been rebuilt some time in the near past? (I ask that because, years ago I had a BMW tranny rebuilt by a very good shop ans noted on the work order that it had to be built and filled only with type F fluid. When I picked up and road tested the car, the tranny made an groaning noise on the up-shift. I took the dar back to the shop and asked what fluid it was filled with. They said Dexron II. I pointed out the work order and my telling them to only use type F, . They changed the fluid and refilled with type F, which was a waste because the clutch plates were contaminated with Dexron, so they decided to rebuild the trans mission,l They did, and filled it with type F and it was just as bad, so they claimed there was probably a problem in the valve body. I asked them what fluid they soaked the new plates in before assembly, It was Dexron, so they rebuilt it again using tyoe F for the pre soak of plates and bands, The tranny worked perfectly.
For a Chrysler product, I would only use Mopar brand fluid, even if the manual said there was an acceptable substitute. This is also true for the brake fluid and coolant, as the cost of a mistake can be huge. Remember, whoever changes the fluid is married to any problems that show up. I owned a six bay repair shop with a full machine shop for ten years before retiring. We did not do transmissions, it was legally safer to have them done by a reputable transmission shop or the dealer, bringing them the vehicle.

1997 dodge ram 1500 (360) transmission.

My 95 Cummins Dodge had the same problem and adding "Lucas Transmissiion Fix" cured it completely and permanently.

Thier claim is as follows:

Lucas Transmission Fix is a non-solvent formulas that stops slip, hesitation and rough shifting in worn transmissions and completely eliminates most seal leaks. Use in any transmission for preventative maintenance.Use also in light duty manual transmissions to increase shifting ease and transmission life.
Key Benefits
  • Contains no solvents
  • Lowers operating temperatures and stops foaming
  • Can be added to existing fluid without draining any out
  • Effective in an extremely high percentage of cases

2001 dodge 1500 4x4

did you drain the fluid, it may have lots of metal and be really gummed up causing it to over heat and burn off. Aside from that the most commonly overlooked "check engine" proplem is the O2 sensors, there should be 2 of them

Dodge cummins auto transmission

hello dodge cummins owner i myself have a 98 dodge ram 1500 5.9L truck and i just recently had to rebuild my transmission. my truck would go fine in reverse but would not move in forward. when i took the trany apart i found out that the clutchs were completely gone. but in order to rebuild your trany i would sugest in getting a shop repair manual. i had purchased a shift kit for 400 dollars and it came with all the clutchs that i needed and that is much cheaper than buying a tranny or even haveing a shop work on it. the shop wanted 1500 dollars to rebuild it and to buy a new tranny it was over 2000 dollars.
