My AC keeps blowing fuses. Everything works, but I was told it was the AC control switch that needs replacing. Will I need to buy the whole panel ? The heater works fine, but the AC and defrost buttons don't. I am in Houston Tx......Does anyone know if there another way to fix it or where I can get a new or used one..............

    Exactly which fuse is blowing

Yeah , which fuse ? A/C compressor clutch , main fuse for the HVAC control panel etc... Under hood fuse box or inside the vehicle fuse box . If the heater works ,assume the blower motor is pushing air out of the vents . No matter which fuse it is , you have a short to ground on the circuit or circuits that fuse protects , that is the only reason a fuse blows .

SOURCE: Relay center location

Finally located the AC primary small relay in the relay center under the right dashboard site. The relay had burned winding and only the resistor connected parallel to the coil was showing some resistance otherwise it wasn't engaging when I applied power to it. The Buick is actually 1990.

SOURCE: blower not working on ac or heater etc.

A very common solution here is replacement of the blower motor resistor. The resistor when they break do one of two things.

A. work only on high

B. dont work.

This item is located on passanger side under dash and is usually held in with two small bolts on either side with an electrical connector seperating the mounting screws. It is mounted right in the air box. I replace at least one of these a week in my shop very common item.

SOURCE: HEATER LIGHTS IN CONTROL PUSH BUTTONS ON 200 BUCIK LESABRE

I finally replaced the Backlights, using a guide from a person at www.answerbag.com
who wrote:

(i've got an 04 limited. i just soldered in new bulbs for the lighting controls panel (5 #272-1092) and the digital HVAC panel (1 #272-1092 and 5 #272-1154). steering wheel control bulbs are next. )

Just buying a cheap Used one may be the best, if you are not good with dis-assembly and soldering small electric bulbs
Depending on the style you can get a Used One from an online junkyard for 25-50 USD
Check LKQonline out..
http://stores.ebay.com/LKQonline

The most difficult part is getting the Climate Control Module out of the dash, to make the soldering new bulbs repair. The wood-grain Bezel needs to come off, BE CAREFULL, its long and flexible and can crack easy if the wrong pressure is applied or its cold outside or cold in the car cab. Its held in the dash with GM friction clips ( pain in the %$#) and 2 Phillpis screws behing Glove Box door. I worked the pull- pressure from the A/C vent on Right, left-ward to the center, and from Steering Column right-ward toward the center. Once the Bezel is removed, the Climate Control Module is seen, with 4 push-tabs on each corner. BE CAREFULL pushing in the tabs....I broke off one as in pushed too hard. Pry out Right side while pushing 2 right-side tabs gently together. Repeat for the Left Side, while pushing 2 left-side tabs together gently. The Climate Control Module should pop out. Use a 3/8inch Nut Driver to remove the headless screws that hold the Climate Control Module PushButton plate to the box. This will expose the Printed Circuit Board for solder replacement of the Bulbs.

SOURCE: A/C blows cold on floor and windshield, not thru dash vents

This recently happened to my mustang and I found a broken vacuum line that connected to a "vaccum block". I'm not sure of the name but if you follow the vacuum line from the master cylinder it will lead ya right to it!

Entire dashboard lights won't work

buy it used like this or just failed now 30 years later? called out of the blue failed?
name all lamps in the dash that fail there are many
we can not guess them all.
the dash has piles of cluster lamps. (errors) and has background lamps that are DIMMER controlled.
dashboards have many lamps even the shift lever does.

  1. car starts and riuns good
  2. HL work key on and off, headlamps
  3. park ing lamps work
  4. dome lamp work (door opens domes glow)
  5. cluster error lamps work or not.
  6. cluster back ground dimmers work or not.
  7. AC panel dead. lamps yes.
  8. the car has 2 or more fuse boxs, you do know that riight
  9. all facts matter above to fast accurate diagnosis. (I give up)
  10. this car had option AUTO lamps , got that?
F13 ,IP box is fuse that can blow. is park feed (HL) to dash
and via the DIMMER. and also glows Illumination on AC panel
THE AC active lamp is a whole other matter.
if the DIMMER works on high but not below that is a BAD dimmer control, for sure)

IP fuse F6 is for AutO Lamps OPTED CARS.

THIS MAKES NO SENSE
I the dimmer switch turn the interior light on still so I'm assuming it's still good
IF DIMMER FAILS FAILS ALL MODES THE FUSE IS BLOWN
IF DIMMER FAILS ONLY OFF HIGH THE DIMMER ITSELF IS BAD.
IT HAS ONLY 2 PINS ON IT.
HOT WITH PARK OR HL ON.
THIS PATH IS DASH AND CLUSTER ILLUMINATION FEED
OR BACKGROUND LAMPS, ONLY, FOR NIGHT DRIVING.

The blow motor for hvac won't work in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 replaced blow motor and panel controls in dash board, what else could it be?

Have you replaced the blower motor resister? If not that's what I would replace as it is the most common part to fail.

My climate panel isn't working? Won't light up or blow out air. Can't locate were the AC fuse is. It doesn't show anything.

Question edited for clarity and written English.
Question moved from AC Cars, makers of the AC Cobra sports car.

All questions need 'year make model' or it is all guesswork.

Everything can be found on Google

year make model fuse box diagram

Most cars have AC fuses and an AC relay, an electric clutch and everything is controlled by the Body Control Module. The only way to diagnose is by an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer.

If the fan doesn't work, the BCM won't let the AC run, or the evaporator would ice up to a solid block.

Fuse keeps blowing on a/c on 2001 dodge truck

Let's break this down.
1 Does the fuse blow when the heater is on, or just the AC?
Yes- Fan motor problem likely need new blower motor.
No- 2
2 Disconnect the AC compressor clutch wire. Remove the blown AC fuse, connect a multimeter across the sockets for the fuse, measure DC voltage across the two sockets with the AC switch, and Ignition switch ON. Is Battery voltage present?
Yes- The wiring harness has a short between the output of the AC switch and ground, likely a pinched harness.
No- The AC compressor clutch is shorted. Replace either the whole compressor or the clutch.

My power window and door locks fuse keeps blowing.

When the fuse blows figure out what you are doing, what switch is being pressed, then remove the needed panels to access the wiring to the switch and motor it operates, then you will find the damaged wiring and repair the short, no quick fix, just hard grunt work.

Sentra AC

There's a 10amp fuse that powers the ac clutch relay and compressor. There are 15amp fuses that power the blower motor and the ac control switch. All of those fuses get power from the key switch. The resistor and fan switch provide the ground circuit for the blower motor.
I would want to know if those fuses are getting power, and if the control panel is working. You should be able to ground the blower motor and make it run on high, and that should not have any effect on if the ac compressor is running or not.
It could be a key switch problem in that the circuit is not strong enough to handle the load from the blower and the compressor at the same time.
