IF THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS LIGHT HAS EVER COME ON, AND YOU HAVENT BEEN PUTTING THE 4WD UNDER ANY STRESS, IT MAY JUST BE A LOW FLUID LVL IN THE TRANSNFER CASE. IF FLUID LVL IS FINE THEN THE SENSOR THAT SCREWS INTO THE TRANSFER CASE HAS TAKEN A DUMP, REPLACE, AND THE LIGHT SHOULD GO OUT AFTER THE ENGINE RUNS A CYCLE. MAKE SURE THAT THE 4WD ISNT PARTIALY ENGUAGED, PUT THE TRUCK IN 4WD AND DRIVE A FEW BLOCKS THEN STOP DISENGUAGE AND SEE IF THAT WORKS..

Hi sspain.... Generally when this light appears, your transmission needs to have the fluid changed, the filter changed, and the belts tightened or adjusted. This work requires a lift and special tools. You can do it your self but even I take mine into the transmission shop for this. I like AAMCO repair shops for fair pricing, and quality work. Joe
have a dealer read the codes from the atc module..if has code 327 it will need an encoder sensor replaced..if code 2735 it will need a switch replaced in dash..if code 306 check grounds under cab mount ..if grounds are good replace encoder motor
4wd drive light can be scanned for error code and help to find more exact problem could be anything from broken vacuum line to a blown control module from cheap to OMG expensive, run codes to find out.
Does the 4-wheel drive work ? Most of the time, it is a reminder to have your fluid changed. Other times, it could be a vacuum leak in the line that engages the 4-wheel drive. Check both of those first.
