If the ignition coil, crank sensor, ignition ,module ,cap and rotor are new then possibly a bad pick up coil inside the distributor bad ignition coil wire from dist. to coil or missing power supply
code p0302 refers to cylinder 2 misfire detected===causes --engine mechanical fault--wiring---ignition/fuel system---injector--ECT/MAF sensor---ECM code p0457 refers to evaporative emission system--leak detected (fuel cap loose/off) ==causes --mechanical fault--hose connections---EVAP pressure sensor Replace faulty items. Use only genuine items as replacement as non-genuine are not always compatible with the OEM fitted CPU units. This results in the fault codes not cancelling out. If possible you may be able to get the CPU reset to work with the non genuine items you already have.
REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES IF NOT BEEN CHANGED IN LONG PERIOD OF TIME.CHECK IGNITION TIMING.CHANGE AIR FILTER CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS.IF ENGINE STILL MISFIRE IGNITION COIL IS WEAK OR YOU HAVE LOW CYLINDER COMPRESSION.
Well, Spark Plugs wear over time, seldom fail to fire
A worn or dirty rotor and cap will still fire, also
You never throw new wires at it,I don't,mine last 18 years,
on all vehicles
You need some OBD2 knowledge, start studying
The PO302,last # is the cylinder
Number 2 is misfiring
If you got individual coils, go there
If you got an ignition module, for all the cyl,go there
If you got plug wires, there is an extremely odd chance, one burned out inside ,on #2
& you did say your have a dist cap.
So you do have a cylinder monitor, that detected it
That may be the crank sensor, another possible
There may be no injector pulse if the computor does not see a RPM signal. There will be no spark if the ignition module does not see a dist pulse from the dist pickup.......a RPM signal. Because you do not have both ......I would suggest to check/change the dist pick up. Follow the wires from the ignition module inside the dist to the pickup which is also inside the dist. If it is just a bad dist pickup....keep all your old parts as good spares. Also...is the dist turning? to provide a RPM signal? You will have to remove the dist to change the pick-up.....mark your timing locations......"rotor position" and "dist body location"before removal. A quick test before installing the "repaired dist" .....plug it in the the truck wiring and turn on the key....DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE OR YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DIST ROTOR CORRECT POSITION......as you spin the dist by hand .....the injectors should spray.
How is the pressure in the fuel rail? a low pressure will cause erratic firing of the injectors - the further down the rail u get usually the worse the problem. If the fuel filter was not changed regularly or if the vehicle stood for a while, dirty fuel/standing fuel at some time in the recent past, this **** will accumulate in tyhe injectors. To avoid spending a loada cash, swap a few injectors around and see if the problem moves with the injector.
