2001 eclipse.. How do you remove the front seat shoulder brackets?

  • Anonymous Sep 03, 2010

I believe it is the stock seat. low back bucket with removable headrest. I need to get the shoulder seat belt plastic bracket off in order to put new seat covers on. The bracket is mounted on a steel rod coming out of the top the seat. It does not unscrew nor is ther a visable screw anywhere. The backs of my seats are a hard plastic. This is a spyder convertible

Hi! Do you have a stock seat or a bucket seat? What particular part do you want to remove?

Alrighty, they cant be removed but you can make a small **** on the seat cover unnoticeable and place it over the brackets. I made the same procedure on my friend's eclipse. Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!

They can be removed. You can feel some kind of switch through the material just below it.

How to remove a back seat from 02 toyota avensis

Hi, peel the cover from around the seat frame so that the shoulder strap hold the cover on to the seat.

Extend the set belts to their maximum length and recline the seat as far as possible.

Looking at the seat from the front, put your hand in the gap between the reat of the seat (bit that reclines) and the fromt of the fixed base (by the red dome and the instructions).

On the bit of the seat that reclines there is a 'door' that opens to reveal a metal clasp that the ends of the shoulder straps fix to at the top and the ****** belt at the bottom.

Unhook the looks from the shoulder straps from the metal clasp.

Pull the shoulder straps through the back of the seat upright. You can now pull them through the cover which is free for you to wash.

Thank you.

How do we fix front passenger side seat belt retractor on 1999 Ford Taurus? It will not pull out....

you may have to remove the bolt that holds the buckle to the floor. Try to push the belt into the retractor and see if it frees up.

I assume you are saying it is in the locked mode. It has an automatic lock mode for holding a child seat. When the belt is pulled all the way out, it goes into locking mode. You will hear it ratchet when the belt starts going back in.

Section 01-20A: Restraints, Active 1999 Taurus, Sable Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Safety Belt, Lap/Shoulder The dual locking mode retractor on the shoulder belt portion of the combination lap/shoulder safety belt for the front seat passenger and rear seat outboard passengers operates in two ways:
  1. In the vehicle sensitive (emergency locking) mode, the shoulder belt retractor will allow the occupant freedom of movement, locking tight only on hard braking, hard cornering or impacts of approximately 8 km/h (5 mph) or more. The front and rear outboard seat belt retractors can also be made to lock by pulling/jerking on the belt.
  1. In the automatic locking mode, the shoulder belt retractor will be automatically locked and remain locked when the combination lap/shoulder safety belt is buckled and does not allow the occupant freedom of movement. This mode provides tight lap/shoulder belt fit on the occupant and on a child safety seat or infant carrier installation restraint.
  1. When the combination lap/shoulder belt is unbuckled and allowed to retract completely, the retractor will switch to the vehicle sensitive (emergency) locking mode.
sxh~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif WARNING: REAR-FACING INFANT SEATS SHOULD NEVER BE PLACED IN THE FRONT SEATS.
The automatic locking mode must be used when installing a child safety seat on the front passenger seat and rear outboard seats where dual locking retractors are provided
