How do i replace the serpentine belt on a 94 grand am se, with a/c, 5 spd manual

Tensioner badly adjusted or pulleys are misaligned.

Take it back to the shop and ask them to fix the tension under the repair warranty.

There should be enough tension that the belt can't jump the pulleys. There is a small chance is is misrouted.

When did this first begin to happen? Changed belt or installed different pulley? Chased same problem. Solved it by shimming the idler pulley out so that belt ran in the middle of the pulley. Check the wear marks on the pulleys to see if the belts are running to the outside.

I recommend you get the Haynes repair manual on your vehicle from the local Auto parts store. That will give you the proper routing of the belt as well as how to adjust the tension correctly.

If there is not one posted on your car you can always get one from autozone maybe even there website. Or you can stop in a local shop that has alldata or mitchell would probbably print you one of, try the autozone website first.

For a 94 Jeep grand cherokee, the tension is controlled through a long bolt on the power steering bracket. The bolt is about 6 inches long, located underneath the power steering on the driver side. Lossen the lockbolt holding it in place, as well as the Power steering attach bolts, and turn the long bolt to tighten/loosen. I believe these are all 13 mm bolts.

Use a break over to unload spring tensioner and pull old belt off. Look at belt diagram and reinstall new belt pull back tensioner and install.
