Question about Mercedes-Benz ML-Class

1 Answer

Good day My 2001 Mercedes ML270 CDI goes into limp mode and has no power, I put my foot flat on the eccellerator and it does not even reach 20 revs. I then stop put it into park and switch off, when I start it again it has regained it's power and goes as normal. We have already replaced the Air Flow Sensor, the Boost Pressure Sensor including the ECU and Talk Converter on the gearbox and she still does this. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks Irene

I had a similar symptom. The source was a faulty intake manifold. The intake manifold has 8 ports, 4 of them have butterfly valves moved by an actuator that is controlled by the ECM. There is a plastic linkage from the actuator to the butterfly valves that wears and drops off. I had to buy a new manifold which is improved to stop this happening,

Sounds like you have a speed sensor problem. Possibly input or output shaft speed sensor on transmission. You will need to find out what fault codes are being set and proceed from there.

Mercedes 20004 c class 2.7 cdi keeps going in limp mode

The engine and the transmission in this car are controlled electronically by a computer module, when the car is put in limp mode the computer has detected a serious problem that may cause damage to the engine if you were to drive it at full power settings. What must be done now is to have the systems computer scanned for fault codes that will ID why this is happening.

Loss of power

I have the same problem on a s320 cdi, gearbox goes into limp mode and wont rev above or kickdown, at the 1st chance i get to stop i put into park or neutral gear turn off the engine and re-start and then everthing is fine, I read that if you put a new battery on it may solve the problem, it's something to do with the voltage dropping below 10.4 volts. Then it sends a message to e.c.u. that puts your gearbox into limp mode. Hope this will work for you. MERKY
