www.toyota-4runner.org/.../4164-check-engine-light-vsc-trac-trac-off-li... Jun 6, 2004 - I just bought it, and a few days later the check engine light, VSC TRAC, and TRAC OFF lights all came on. I took it to a dealership and was told ...
have whomever replaced the brakes look into it. seems related. Also is the abs light on as well? usually both lights come on together related to anti-lock braking and traction control.
I'd get the car back to who changed the oil and have them run the check engine code. If they are interested in customer service, I'd think they'd do that for free.
With the code, can better determine the risk. While I'd not consider a VSC/Trac Control critical (we ahve all driven cars for years with out it), the addition of the check engine light could mean bigger problems. I'd also be more concerned if it was an ABS brake fault or brake light that was lit.
