If you hear the relay click, but no pressure at all then it would be the fuel pump needing replacement
SOURCE: Ford Escort 1998 fuel pump not working.
good old ford lol, try looking at the crank sensor its located at the front of the engine tucked in right hand side of exhaust manifold and gearbox, two pin plug, i have also known these to have no end of faults with the fusebox.
easy to remove, and solder the connections inside they all suffer eventually, if your not to handy with cars i recommend taking to a auto electrician, easy if you know how. Good luck Davelee

either your fuel pump relay or the safety shut off switch
SOURCE: 1991 Ford F-250 (again!) 4.9 liter, dual tanks.
try resetting the inertia switch located on drivers side way up under the dash, with a red button on top, maybe you kick it or hit the body hard enough to kick it off, also check the fuel pump relay under the hood drivers side ,i think brown and black relay box over wheel( inner fender)..and check the fuse, and new fuseable link
Testimonial: "Inertia switch it was! Thank you very much!! Excellent service."
