I have a 1999 Chrysler concord and the engine light came on and the car is jerking. I took it to auto zone and had them put their tester on it and the tester said it is looking for the timing signal. He said he didn't know what to do about it.

erase code again , then disconnect battery for a few minutes, reconnect, see if code comes back. hopefully this resets computer. you don\'t have a reset button on steering wheel do you ? replace your fuel filter, if you haven\'t lately. maybe that will help.
You need to take it to an auto parts store and have the computer scanned for trouble codes. The codes will point you in the direction of the problem, but not tell you which parts have failed. Odds are you will need a shop for repairs, but get the codes first.
First check coils and battery charge.
You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing... - Spark - Fuel - Compression
All
three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There
are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both
are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel
pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the
reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets
unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With
the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to
the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in
the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into
the cylinder like it should.
Compression tester,
spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at
your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in
diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these
tests.
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your

all the codes listed above are saying incorrect ratio for each gear, you should take this to a dealer he can determine which faulty sensor on the transmission is causing this,it is not a internal transmission problem
According to the online instruction manual available here at the Auto Zone site, you need to loosen the left engine mount and slightly raise the engine to provide clearance to get the starter out.
