I have a 02 Chevy suburban 4wd 1500 when I drive it jerks and when put in reverse it jerks harder put today I put it in park on the hill and it kept rolling backwards like the break wasn't on but if I put my foot on the break it would stop. I keep getting different reasons this is happening so o wanna c what someone else would tell me........help plz

Sounds like your transfer case in neutral. You have to engage the transfer case back into gear then shift selector to drive or reverse. When your transfer is in neutral the transmission will not operate. Good luck.

check the shift adjustment at the bottom of the steering column as it may have slipped or be slipping. Check the linkage on the side of the box

Check your cable at the trans. And see if it has not loosen up and is not seat right.

you need a used trans, or a rebuild, but dont let a rebuilder fill you full of ****, all you need is the reverse drum, and possibly some clutches. the teeth on the reverse drum strip off, and thats when you lose reverse.

Sounds like a bent fork in the transfer case. It is a common problem with your truck. The transfer case is a np236. If it just recently started doing this, the rebuild will cost around $800. If the 4wd has been acting up for a while, the planetary will probably need changed, which is another $200.

On your parking brake assembly is a single wire switch. You can unplug it, but you will have to remember not to drive with it set. To replace the switch the whole assembly will have to come out. The switch is about $20 and labor should run about two hours. Good Luck

It sounds like you broke what is called a sun gear drive shell its a common problem with that trans.
