Just bought a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. Drove it a few times and then the starter went. Replaced the starter and solenoid unit and drove it a few times then it would not start again. Replaced the starter again...

Your going down the wrong road-- logically thinking
Find out what controls the voltage to the starter solenoid
Like the ignition switch being worn out, neutral sw,brake sw
whatever is in the starting circiut
To try & answer questions on this site, i feel like I'm
talking to people back in the 1970's
Today you need wiring diagrams,a volt meter, pencil
& paper & all the reference material before walking
to the car
Point being-- you can't fix or figure out what you don't know,
learn the system FIRST & then approach the car with your
road map,so you can test,test,test
No way to resolve any vehicle issue installing parts
Going forward you should spend 80% of your time thinking
& testing & only 20% working hard, that goes for anything in life
I never had a champion problem, but your parts store can test
the starters & alternators & such for free

1995 lincoln continental. Sitting at stop light, abs light comes on, drove home about 5 miles and abs lignt on and off the whole time. parked car and now wont start. just clicks. any suggestions?

Anytime a starter clicks instead of turning over, you should suspect your battery is weak. Try to get a jump start and take the car to an auto parts store. Most of them will do bettery and alternator checks for no charge.

My sunfire GT will randomly not start. I never know when it is not going to start. When it randomly doesn't start i get someone to help and give me a boost. As soon as it starts up, the car will run...

you need to get your starter checked or just replace the the starter solenoid or starter brush holder assembly.the signal light thing may be due to a high resistance in the wire ends that bolt to the starter solenoid.either way you need to check out the starter and the wireing to it.

Car wont start, drove it home last night and this morning it wont start. lately everytime i tried to start it it would click once and it would start the second time.

1- Battery may be weak, need to recharge.
2- At this car age, the solenoid has corroded contact causing high resistance reducing the current delivered to the starter. Therefore you could hear click coming from the solenoid, but not started.
3- Your solenoid costs about $41
