Hi, the only part that dont have the circuit under neath is the part that has broken off the only chance you might have of finding somewhere to drill through is if you take the key apart and have a look on the inside and see if their is a small gap you can drill through.

if you just drill through without taking the case off you will never know whats under neath, now with the case off you may find a small part near the back of the key next to the part that broke off but it will only be a small area, so if you take the case off and drill a hole you will probably need one of those straps that go through a mobile phone, you know the string type that you feed through the hole on a mobile well you may be able to drill a small hole big enough to put this string through, but you wont be able to drill a hole big enough to put the metal ring through on its own.

if you can get the case off without damaging it then have a look at the back part near to the part that broke and you should find a small area to drill through, please dont drill anything without taking the key fab apart as you will drill through the circuit, its not worth guessing as damaging this could mean your car wont start.

failing that replacing the key is the only option

take the case off and have a look first just take your time and try not to break anything inside the key, if you have messed about fixing things before then you should be able to take the case off the key.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

How to remove ignition without keys

if you have a metal bit for your drill that's small enough to drill a hole into the middle of the key:
drill a hole into the center of they key. stick in something into the hole (preferably a rod of metal) with superglue on it and gently try to turn the ignition after it's properly dried.

I have a jeep liberty05 and my oil pan drain plug was put in by last owner so tightly i had to use an irwin east out in doin so with my impact the inside threade piece that the plug screws into broke off...

YOU NEED TO BUY CORRECT SIZE NEW OIL DRAIN PLUG. YOU TO KNOW YOUR THREAD SIZE ON NEW OIL DRAIN BECAUSE YOU NEED THE RIGHT TAP AND DRILL BIT TO CENTER DRILL THE BROKE BOLT IN SIDE OIL PAN YOU NEED A CENTER PUNCH TO PUNCH A SMALL ENOUGH TO START THE DRILL BIT DEAD CENTER OF BROKE BOLT.OIL PAN NEED TO BE REMOVED TO DRILL HOLE STRAIGHT.THIS IN NOT A EASY JOB.EITHER YOU REPAIR OR DAMAGED OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG HOLE. YOU DRILL BIT HAS TO STRAIGHT WHILE DRILLING HOLE DEAD CENTER OF BROKEN BOLT YOU NEED TO MEASURE LENGHT OF OIL DRAIN PLUG BOLT. THEN USE A PIECE TAPE ON DRILL BIT WRAP A PIECE TAPE AROUND DRILL BIT THE DEPT YOU NEED TO DRILL THROUGH BOLT. LIKE I SAY THIS JOB TAKE SKILL AND A STRAIGHT HAND. BECAREFUL WITH DRILL AND WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES. DONT DO THIS FIX IF YOU NOT SURE OF MECHANIC SKILLS YOU WILL EITHER DAMAGE THE OIL PAN OR FIX THE PROBLEM.

You can buy an aftermarket key which is fairly cheap but make sure you have a master locksmith doing the key cutting and swapping the transponder/chip over.

How do you replace the ignition cylinder on a 1997 toyota 4 runner

Here's what you need:
1) Drill
2) 5/32′ cobalt drill bit (use cobalt, it's for drilling hard metals and is necessary)
3) 10mm socket wrench
Here's what you do:
1) Remove panel underneath steering column (4 X 10mm bolts)
2) Remove plastic shield covering ignition (should just snap out)
3) On the underside of the ignition assembly, you'll see a small hole (~1/4′) about 2 inches back from where the key goes. Using the 5/32′ drill bit, drill up into the hole, trying to center the drill bit on the pin which is inside the hole. You can normally push this retaining pin in if the ignition is turned to the first position and slide the cylinder out.
4) When the pin is drilled out completely, the lock cylinder should be easy to pop out with a small flat head screwdriver pried just underneath where the key goes on the front of the ignition.
5) The new cylinder should slide right in (with the key inserted and turned to the first position - ACC)
Heres what it cost:
1) Ignition lock cylinder assembly from Toyota dealer ~ $115
2) 5/32′ cobalt drill bit ~$4

Drivers seat

You need to unbolt the seat from the floor, then put a large piece of sheet metal or really large flat washers (at least 3" diameter) under the legs to distribute the weight more evenly. How you repair the one that broke is largely dependent on if the leg broke or if it went through the floor. you can replace the seat with one from a scrapyard or if you know someone who can weld it without setting it on fire, (don't attempt to weld with the seat in the car) do that. if the leg went through the floor, then just use a large plate underneath to reinforce it and replace the bolt if necessary. Usually the bolts are case hardened steel so if one broke it may be easier to cut them all off and re-drill new holes just in front or behind the old ones. I'd only do that if the old one cannot be drilled and re-tapped though. Always use grade eight bolts to replace hardware. They will prevent the seat from tearing from the floor in an accident.

Key broke off in ignition lock cylinder. Can't remove cylinder.

Non-Functional Lock Cylinder
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
  3. Insert a 0.125 (3.17mm) drill bit in the hole at the top of the cylinder housing and drill out the retaining pin. NOTE: Be careful not to drill into the lock cylinder housing.
  4. Pull out the lock cylinder.
  5. Clean out all the metal shavings and check the tube for damage. If damaged, the housing must be replaced. To Install:
  6. Turn the new lock cylinder to accessory position and while pressing the retaining pin in, insert the lock cylinder into the housing.
  7. Turn the key to the OFF position the release the retaining pin.
  8. Try the lock cylinder operation in all positions.
  9. Reinstall the steering column covers.
  10. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

Door Glass, Front Removal
  1. Remove door trim panel and watershield. Refer to Section 01-05. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Prior to removing center pins from the rivet, it is recommended that a suitable block support be inserted between door outer panel and glass bracket to stabilize glass during rivet removal. Remove center pin from each rivet with a drift punch. Using a 1/4-inch diameter drill, drill out remaining rivets as damage to plastic glass retainer and spacer could result.
  1. Remove two rivets attaching glass to run and bracket assembly.
  1. Remove glass.
  1. Remove drillings and pins from bottom of door.
Installation
  1. Snap plastic retainer and spacer into two glass retainer holes. Make certain that metal washer in the retainer assembly is on outboard side of glass.
  1. Insert glass into door.
  1. Position glass to glass bracket. Install two rivets to secure glass to glass bracket. NOTE: Two 1/4-inch-20 x 1-inch bolts and two 1/4-inch-20 nut and washer assemblies may be used as alternates for glass retention. However, torque must not exceed 4-7 Nm (36-61 lb-in). Equivalent metric retainers (6mm) may be used.

Bmw 316i

hi markjones, the ignition switch can usually be removed without too much disassembly. First you will need to remove a plastic screw in the upper and lower trim covers. Seperate the covers. You should see a black plastic ring around the mechanical switch. gentley remove the ring. Next remove the rubber o-ring/band. With the key in the iginition and turned to almost to position 1, insert a heavy duty paper clip, or bmw special tool (about $30 from the dealer) into the small hole in the switch. There is a cam in the hole that needs to be twisted clockwise so the cylinder can be removed. When installing a new switch make sure to remove the little tab pice of metal that usually breaks off in the housing. Also be sure to make sure and reinstall the rubber ring/band because they are part of the ews system. If you key turns continuously, or is not able to be removed, the ignition housing and cylinder both will need replaced. Replacing the lock housing is about a 2 hour sequence and can be challenging. I would recommend a shop for that kind of repair.
