Yes you can the MAF sensor is enclosed in a housing and the only other sensors are the AIT which is the air intake temp sensor. But no as long as you only pull the housing you will not damage any other components. Remember safety and carefully remove sensor and make sure to unplug sensor before removal and installing the new one make sure the air arrow points towards the engine and not away. This will cause serious issues.

P0100 NISSAN - Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Range/Performance Error

Possible causes- Dirty mass air flow sensor
- Dirty mass air filter
- Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
- Mass air flow sensor electrical circuit poor connection
- Intake air leaks
- Faulty mass air flow sensor
Tech notes Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.

P0101 code for check engine light.. possible solutions???

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0101 has a generic description of "Mass or volume air flow circuit range/performance problem". This can be caused by several things including:
> Dirty air filter
> Air leak in air intake system
> Contaminated, deterriorated or damaged Mass Air Flow Sensor
> Poor electrical connections at the Engine Control Module, the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor or the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
> Faulty MAF or TPS

You should check your air filter and air intake system visually and correct any obvious defects/leaks first.

If a visual inspection does not turn up the cause, then you will need a scan tool capable of reading sensor data to verify the function of the MAF and TPS. You will also need proper electrical diagnostic equipment to verify the integrity of the circuits and continue with diagnosis.

I have a 97 rang rover i plugged in a reader that gave me the code p1177 what is the problem ? the engine is running rough like real bad gass, los of HP from a stop just dragging

The code mean that the engine is running rich, getting to much fuel.

Possible problem is a vacuum hose leak somewhere on the engine. Check vacuum line to brake booster and PVC valve too. Check with a vacuum gauge.

Also problem might be with dirty or defective mass air flow sensor (MAS). This is located on the air intake just after the air filter. Defect MAS would cause the exact symptoms you describe. Check the intake hoses and clamp. New air mass flow sensor cost $75-$95 without housing.

Let me know what you find out and if this helps.

2006 range rover hse is displaying diagnostic code P0110, P0108, and P0104. What are they? Also, is there a place where I can get a list of all the codes?

try looking on directconnect file share and you can then download mine ,programme available for free download at sourceforge.net

P0110....Intake Air Temperature Circuit

P0108....Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input

P0104....Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Intermittent

think this is telling you you need a new mass air flow sensor

Where is mass air flow senser on a 1989 buick regal

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. The BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor is usually installed in the intake air duct between the air filter and the throttle body mounted on the intake manifold. Also check the throttle body for mass air flow sensors location.
On mass air flow sensors with a sense wire, this wire can become contaminated with dust particles. These particles can be removed with automotive solvents that are safe for the use on mass air flow sensors. Before replacing the mass air flow sensor check for air leaks in the connecting air ducts and intake manifold. These leaks can cause similar symptoms as a malfunctioning mass air flow sensor.

Bad or contaminated BUICK Regal Mass Air Flow sensor can possibly cause a wide range of various vehicle drivability problems such as stalling, especially when the engine is cold, misfiring, poor acceleration, etc. In addition, a problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor often causes the "check engine" or "service engine soon" light in the vehicle instrument panel to illuminate.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Hello I have a 2001 Range Rover it stops after you drive it for about 10 minutes then will not restart until it cools down.I had an issue with the air flow sensor but have replaced this.

Hi it is common on range rovers that the flywheel flex plate cracks or brakes up, this in turn damages the crank sensor causing the engine to stop. I have had more than one car with this same fault.
Remove and inspect crank sensor for damage10 mins job just above the sump on left side of car from underneath.
Thanks rob

Mass air flow sensor is out how can i fix the problem without having to replace the mass air flow sensor,or how can I make the car give more horsepower with out damaging my motor

My check engine light came on and the code came back saying that the mass air flow sensor was out. All I did was change the air filter even though I really didn't think it needed it, the light went off and has not come back on yet. Knock on wood!
