Locate the starter. If you're not sure where it is,call a couple shops or a dealer, someone will tell you for free to attract business.Tap on the starter with a hammer 2 or 3 times, not too hard, not too soft.It may take several tries but it will start if it's a starter problem.Sounds like it is if you're getting several clicks when you try to start. If you only get 1 and struggle for 2,it's probably the battery. If there is an Autozone nearby, get a jump and go there. They do free checks on battery/alternator.The average life of an alkaline battery is 6 maybe 7 years,so if you are the original owner and have never replaced it,that's probably it if it is a 2002.I can't be sure because the header says 2006 Impala but you say 2002 Impala.
Good luck! Greg

You have a dead Battery, have the Battery tested, it should have a static charge of at least 11-12 volts, if lower than that, replace the Battery.

SOURCE: my 03 impala wont start up ..wen i turn the key jus clickin noise

The clicking noise is probably the starting solenoid. This means you have some battery voltage and the key switch circuit is working. The problem is either a weak battery, poor battery cable connection, bad starter motor/solenoid, or frozen engine. The voltage at the starter motor needs to be at least 8 volts with the key in the cranking position to turn the engine over. If you have a voltmeter on the dash, watch it while turning the key. Another way to check the voltage is to turn on the headlights. If they dim way down, your battery is weak or the starter motor is shorted or heavily loaded. If the starter motor is shorted or cannot turn because the engine is frozen, the battery cables will get warm. Make sure the engine is not frozen by turning one of the pulleys, or put a socket wrench on the crankshaft pulley bolt. Sometimes the alternator brushes fall out and jam the alternator. This will also stop the engine from turning.

I have a 2000 toyota camry. I turn the key on, dash board lights come on but the engine wont turn. checked the battery, fuses. they are good. could it be the alternator.

Did you have the battery checked by a doing a load test? Do you hear a "clicking" sound when you turn the key to start? If you hear a clicking sound, and you're positive the battery is good (fully charged) it could indicate a bad starter solenoid.

By the way....what kind of vehicle is it....a 00 Camry or an 04 Impala?

When i start my 2002 impala it either doesnt start the first time or when it does you can hear it turn over but then the car jerks before the RPM's rise on the dash. i cant figure out what it is. can...

with my 2002 impala the fuel pressure regulater was what caused that, you can test it without any tools when you go to start your car turn the key to the start postion but dont start the car right away after a minute or 2 start it if it starts right up thats what it was.

2002 impala intermitenly wont start

I would clean the battery connecters or possibly change them. How old is the battery? sometimes when battery get old, they have enough juice to crank the motor but not enough to start it..But then again, if it doesn't crank at all sometimes, it could certainly be a bad or loose battery terminals..Start with this since its the simplest and easiest and could very well be your problem. hope this helps

2002 Chrysler Sebring Convert wont turnover

If you're not hearing a click from the starter check for a starter relay. May be burned out! DO you hear the fuel pump kick in when you turn the key on? If not something might have triggered your security system and locked you out!

if the clicking is repeated with out you releasing the key then the battry is in need of charging or replacing, if its a one click each time then the starter motor is faulty.
