Okay I have a 2001 kia sportage .. Love the car but little by little issues keep coming up .. okay went to get oil change .. and guy tells me that both brake lights are out and so they changed them thinking they were burnt out and that still did not fix it .. since i do not have an owners manue . need help on the ifs ? Thank You

An "O" ring can be purchased at your local auto parts along with your oil filter. Your oil filter screws on top of your oil cooler. Mine leaked as well. A new "O" ring and filter screwed on tightly solved my problem.

If so, the first thing to investigate would be the fuse for the headlamps. A simple volt/ohm meter would be very useful at this point, but often a visual inspection can detect a blown fuse without one.
You should check the wiring harness and connectors/ grounding. Common problem for the older sportages. Many different things can be bad, loose pins/ low tension in female pins inside contacts, corrosion, bad grounding.
The oil pump is inside the oil pan.The oil pan needs to be removed to get at it.Why do you need to get at the oil pump?They are a component that is usually problem free.If your gauge is showing low oil pressure you likely just need a oil pressure sensor.
When the engine warms up it should be fine. Check that you are using the proper oil. Also check if there is a winter oil recommended. Sometimes winter oil is a bit lighter weight and can help keep the ticking noise down or gone all together.
HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY DAUGHTERS CAR---CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND OIL IN THE HOLES OF THE SPARK PLUGS WIRE TOPS--- CHANGED THE VALVE COVER GASKET AND ITS BEEN CLOSE TO 4 MONTHS AND NO OIL AT ALL IN HOLES---IF YOU LOOK AT THE GASKET YOU CAN TELL IT LET THE OIL OUT---THE GASKET SITS INSIDE THE VALVE COVER VERY SNUGLY--THE OLD ONE WAS VERY LOOSE---AS FAR AS OIL GOING INTO THE SPARK PLUG CYLINDER IT WILL BLOW WHITE SMOLE FOR ALITTLE WHILE BUT EVENTUALLY BURN OFF---HOPE THIS HELPS---DENNIS
