Have a shop run a fuel pressure leak down test and have the engine coolant temperature sensor checked for proper colds engine value, if it is reading wrong for any reason then it can starve for fuel cold and it makes it hard to start.

i didnt know that the 2000 ford taurus still had a distributor on it? i thought it just had a coil pack that was told to fire by the crank or cam sensor
just to the right of the thermostat. there are two similar looking sensors side by side. Match up the wire connection on the new ECT sensor to the existing sensor. This will help you determine which of the two sensors is the correct. Then you can remove the faulty sensor and replace.

Yes a sensor will cause this also just a fuse replacement can correct this for you.. follow the hose from the radiator cap to the block, some are located there, also some built in to the radiator itself.. lower day tank on the bottom of the radiator.usually two wires + and -
