My 2008 328i won'start. I bought it 4 months ago, CPO with 21000 miles. The lights, radio, doors are working. I had it towed in to the the dealer, got a loaner. i got a call from them that they just reprogrammed the car, increased the power, and errors were due to variou faults of SIB 120709 & fixed. When we are about to pick up, the car won't start again:(. The car has to stay in the dealer. The SA informed us that a bmw engineer and a senior foreman will do various tests. They replace a part of the valvetronic system, but still some fault codes...The car has been there for 4 days. What's wrong w/ my car? Did I buy a defective one? I'm getting a buyer's remorse :(>

SOURCE: Engine Warning light on rover 75

hi after reading your problem i gather the water pump blew you lost water the car overheated you say it had a brand new cylinder head and the cars still losing water and causing it to overheat and the garage say its the same problem as before yet they won,t do the job because it needs a bottom end ;engine block] so why when they had the head off was this not checked for level and signs of cracking . to be fair to the garage it something that is often overlooked . but that said if this is the problem that occured after three days of buying you are entitled to have the work gaurenteed for 12 months unless otherwise stated i can see there warrenty company won,t want to pay for it as they already paid the garage to do the job [CORRECTLY] the garage had no right to sell a faulty car in the first place and secondly they have been paid by your warrenty company to repair it it is not the warrentys companys fault the garage didnt do what was required in the first place but its not yours either so i would read what your warrenty agreement is and see if it states they won,t pay twice for the same job if not phone them up tell them the only reason you bought the car is because of the warrenty and it is not your fault the job was done properly in the first place and expect the car to be repaired as it should have been in the first place and its up to them and the garage to decide which one of them pays tell them what the garage mechanic said about its allright to drive and i have no idea what book tells you to ignore warning lights but should be shot then go to the garage tell them you want it putting right and you don,t care wheather its under warrenty or the garages oblgation not sell defective vechicles it is up to the garage to put it right or give you your money back if the problem arises within a reasonable amount of time usually seven days tell them to put it in writing if they refuse to do the job if they refuse get a wittness to this and tell them it needs puting right and will be taking to another garage getting it repaired and am giving you the first chance to repair it as stated in law then the bill will forwarded to them an have you took finance out on it or did you pay cash if finance phone them up tell them the problems your having and are going to stop payments until the car is fixed REMEMBER THE GARAGE DEPENDS ON THE FINANCE AND WARRENTY COMPANYS THEY WILL NOT WANT TROUBLE FROM THEM BECAUSE THEY WITH DRAW THERE BACKING THE GARAGE WON,T SELL THER CARS HENCE OUT OF WORK i bet your a newcastle supporter as well with this kind of luck if you let them get away with it your as daft as a brush find out where to report the garage i think it is the office of fair trading and if they won,t bend i will be amazed yates210456

SOURCE: Ford Focus Engine System Fault warning light

yes there is a know problem with the fuel system. fuel pump breaks down, empty your fuel filter into a bowl and check for metalic, if you have this in the filter your pump is F..... along with all the other common rail stuff. expensive job... error codes though, i find that hard to believe, fuel pressure faults will occur, i think you garage does not know what to do. or does not want to tell you the cost of the job and he will be in doubt himself of wether he is right..... was you engine coil light flashing at any point.!!!

I would suggest you check oil levels etc. Generally these cars suffer from the air mass meter / air sensor problems aswell as coil problems too. Did you ever get a solution to the problem?

Hi there:
You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing Spark / Fuel / Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

I have a 2000 S Type with 100,000 miles that I bought about 4 months ago. Within 2 weeks of purchase, the Failsafe engine light kicked in and went straigh into "limp home mode" I did some...

the best thing to do is to have the car scaned with the diagnostic computer to see what fault codes are stored.
acording to the fault code you'll be able to work out what's wrong with it.
I'm sorry i ca't be anymore helpfull.

2006 Z4 2000cc. 21000 miles, eight appearances of the light, none explained satisfactorily by BMW. One occasion--caught out the BMW dealer telling fibs. had an apology from BMW. Came on a few months ago....

Take it to an independent BMW mechanic as BMW dealers use technician level people who replace parts not mechanic level training
an independent may have a better idea about the problems
and get the fault codes read and ask for their meaning

2007 jeep compass, 21000 miles, leased vehicle. speedometer and odometer stopped working, auto locks not working, em brake light on, brake is not, abs light on, 4wd light on

leased? take that thing back and dispute that it is not safe to drive. they need to do a complete check up on that vehicle. it could be as little as the the dash malfunctuning, to brake broken and 4wd broken. which idk how that would even be possible. at 21000 miles it may still be under warrenty and there is prob something writen into the lease about problems like this. please go to your dealer
