How to replace starter for 2001 Ford Explorer directions

Disconnect all cables connected to the input, including the ground wire to the stud starter, starter cable and connector valve. Remove the starter mounting bolts, starting with the upper bolts and insert them into the jar to preserve them for later. Then remove the starter motor. Place the new starter in place and install mounting screws. Tighten the mounting screw. Replace the nut on the starter cable to the port B of the solenoid. Tighten the nut between 80 to 123 inch-pounds (9 to 14 Nm). Close the additional wiring to the starter and replace the red cap. Starter spins but wont engage, could it be a fuse

HUH??? The electrical circuit is working and you think there is a blown fuse?
NO! there is a MECHANICAL problem with your starter like a broken bendix or a chewed-up flywheel. You need to remove your starter motor and inspect the teeth on your flywheel. Look through the starter hole and turn the engine by hand so you can inspect the teeth all the way around. I usually mark the flywheel with a marking pen before I start turning it so I can tell when I have gone all the way around. If the teeth are all in decent condition, replace the starter. If you find any broken/damaged teeth, you need to pull your transmission and replace the flywheel. (AND probably replace the starter anyway.)

Will not crank , can jump at starter , but want star with ignition switch .

Replace the ignition switch...

But! If you are turning the key and you are not getting anything from the starter, then replace the starter.

Another words, if you are turning the key and there is NO noise at all coming from the starter, then replace the ignition switch.

If there is SOME noise/clicking or anything, replace the starter.

I think the starter is going out on my 2002 sport track. Could it be just the cellanoid? Cam i fix that or do i replace the whole starter?

I would have liked to know more about why you think the starter is going.

You can buy replacement parts for a starter, but generally we buy a remanufactured starter, and simply replace the unit.

Remanufactured starter is about $100

Need to replace the starter on the 97 mitsubishi Diamante, how hard is it to remove and replace ?

To replace the starter you need to;
) Note if you have an anti-thief system and now to reset it if the battery is disconnected.
) Note the radio station selections if they are not saved if the battery is disconnected.

Now
) Disconnected the GROUND connector on the battery.
) Disconnect the electrical cable on the battery.
) Remove the 2 bolts holding the starter on. Remove the harder one to reach first.
) Pull the old starter out.
) Insert the new starter.
) Replace the bolt. Insert the easier bolt first.
) Tighten the bolts.
) Replace the electrical cable.
) Reconnect the GROUND connector on the battery.
) Reset any radio, clock or anti-thief systems.
) Return old starter for a core charge refund.
