Probably best to get the immobilizer unit, cpu, key and switch from a doner vehicle from the junk yard or on ebay, make sure you dont need the transmission cpu as well. This is a quick fix I have done myself.
If you do not have another key you will have to call a locksmith or Mazda dealer. If you have a spare key any place that makes keys can make a replacement unless the key has a security chip. In that case only a Mazda dealer or locksmith can replace the key.
some dealers can make you a key if you give them your vin # ,some dealers will also require picture id and title to vehicle, before making key, second have a locksmith make you a key. and a couple copies while your their, theirs a name for that called "wonkey"
The spare key is the valet key, You can call the dealer and have them cut you new keys for you car. You will need the VIN number and your registration for the car. If it doesn't have chip in it, they can make it for you in a couple of minutes. If it has the chip in it, they will have to order it. Without the chip, the key will cost between $20 and $30 dollars.
you will have to get a locksmith to code a new set of keys to suit the chip in the ignition before you can start the car even if you get the doors unlocked, mazda dealer is the next option but costs more.
what you need to do is get the chassis number off your car and take it to your nearest mazda main dealer where they will give you a new key which may then need programming this will be carried out in the dealership by means of a computer
If it has a micro chip on it you'll have to probably go to a mazda dealer to get one, because it will have to be the same code. If it doesn't, you can go anywhere. Walmart, etc.
no you have to go to dealer and find out what chip # it is because if you had to use a locksmith to come out and make another key they charge every time they have to reset the computer and wait some places will not cutr akey until they see a title and license or proof who its registered too so beware but get chip # and no it by heart
The 1st key cost more because they have to reset the cars security system to make it recognize the new key, once that is done is easy to do the 2nd key, thus less money for the second key.
