Tranmission problems

I assume this is an automatic transmission? (Otherwise, you control the shifting...)

Your transmission gears might be worn. You should take it to a reputable mechanic.

Automatic tranmission not working on overdrive, tacoma 2006

The knock sensor fault may be preventing the transmission from shifting to OD. The main engine computer also sends commands to the transmission computer. Your transmission valve body is controlled by electronics.

Transmission slipping in forward and reverse

if it has ever been driven low on tranmission fluid this could be a bad sign, check the fluid level, assuming it is and has been full this could mean your internal clutches are worn, and tranmission will have to be rebuilt or replaced, the color and scent of the fluid are good indicators of burnt clutches, if it is more brown than red, and smells burnt...thats bad news

Why does my trans slip at cruising speed, but takes off fine?

Please check your transmission fluid level after your truck has warmed up. The oil on the transmission stick should be red in color and not brown. The fluid on the transmission stick should be near the full level or at the full level when the engine is hot. You may need to have your transmission fluid changed along with a new tranmission screen in the transmission pan. Let me know if you will be doing the change of the tranmission fluid yourself or not. If you are I will be glad to outline step by step on how to do it.
