SOURCE: Belt replacements
Hi Saul,
I've got an '86 Cherokee Laredo 2.6L and a '91 Wrangler too. It's got a 4.0L inline six cylinder. But it has a serpentine belt.
Comment me back and tell me which components will be attached to the belt in question. That way I can tell you which of them gets used to install the belt.
You will need a socket set and a pry bar for the procedure.
Let me know
Mike
SOURCE: i can't take off or put on a new serpentine belt on 91 yj
you need to loosen the alternator bolts then turn the bolt under the alternator to relieve tension on the belt
SOURCE: replace serpentine belt for 6 cylinder 4wd
Loosen the power steering pump rear mounting
bolts, pivot bolt and lock nut and then loosen the power steering pump
adjusting bolt. Slip the belt on and tighten the
adjusting bolt until you can push the belt in about one inch midway
between the A/C and alternator pulleys. Then tighten the lock nut,
pivot bolt and mounting bolts and that's it.
It helps to diagrams to go with the instructions. Get yourself factory service manual, promanuals.net has them for around 20$ or so.
