2000 ford escort--where do i put in th recharge coolent for the airconditionor. is there a diagram availible
There are 2 service valves on this modl of escort, one located on the right hand side of the radiator as you face the engine and one located next to the accumulator by the firewall on the passengers side. The high pressuresde is the one to the right of the radiator, and the suction side is close to the accumulator on the passengers side. Put freon in the passenger side next to the accumulator. The high pressure side is strictly for checking the head pressure, do not try to put freon in that side. Look for around 40 psi on the low side .. There are more technical ways to do this but this will get you into the right area. If you don't have a guage, add freon until the fan clutch quits cycling at fast idle.
There should be 2 black caps on the a/c line under the hood. Our 1995 escort 1.9L has the intake on the left side. You should be able to hear it take.If it doesn't then try the other side but the left side should work.If your air runs cold for only a day or 2 then gets hot again, there is a leak.
