Question about 1998 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Buick Lesabre Rough Idling, acceleration issues, wont start.

1998 Buick lesabre loses acceleration power when stopping then going. Acceleration then kicks in. Engine Light says bank 1 too lean. Recently, started up the car, idled really rough (exhaust was rumbling) and then it just shut off. This has happened before, and coolant was leaking into the intake. Had to get intake replaced, new oil, new spark plugs. When I got it towed to garage after it stopped running, Garage said it was starting right up when they started it. They probably think I am crazy because I keep bringing it there and it seems to start up ok every time!

Take your Buick to a shop where they can actually identify the head gasket leak.

SOURCE: tightening sequence diagram for a 97 buick lesabre

Bellow is an "example" of the tightening sequence for an intake manifold. The sequence is usually the same for most vehicles, but you should refer to a Haynes/Chilton manual for your specific make and model of vehicle to verify tightening sequence and torque specs. i have had that problem before its most likely a dirty throttle body or a bad throttle position sensor or air idle control sensor some times cleaning the sensors will work before changing them

No acceleration

Possible causes - - low fuel pressure - dirty fuel filter - missfire on one or more cylinders.
You need to figure out if it is a fuel problem or an ignition problem.

Have 2000 Buick Lesabre custom every time car gets up to operating temp. the engine misses going down the road , also let car sit and idle and it shuts off after about 2 minutes , my code reads PO171 system to lean bank 1, changed co2 censor, mass air flow censor, plug wires, and plugs.

Turn key, on, off, on, off, on & leave it on (not start) & count check engine flashes. 2 digit codes, for example: flash, flash, flash, pause, flash, flash., is code 32
