If the vehicle is operating normally and not knocking and making noises suspect a faulty oil pressure switch/oil sending unit. The oil pump is located inside of the oil pan.

Oil warning light flashing mean?

Normally, if you get a oil warning light signal (flashing) could be a few things related to it. Number one, you are low on oil. Check your oil level and make sure it is at full level. Number two, is possibly oil filter is dirty, ( time for service, oil change) or problem with oil pump or oil pump pressure. BUT I would first start with checking oil level and then maybe a oil change.

2.8l v6 in a s10 blazer. no head gasket problems thus far. wondering why my oil pressure gauge fluxuates? minor rpm change while oil pres guage does its thing why?

Oil pressure always changes with rpm.
At idle you should have around 10 psi, and it should max out at high rpm around 50 psi or so.
You not only can't have as much pressure at idle, but you don't need it either.

Oil Gauge indicator always remains close to low point. But dip stick shows oil is full. This happens as well when engine is hot & running. Like 1/8 inch to right of low on gauge. Isn't pointer supposed...

Seems to be an issue on mopars, i have a 92 plymouth voyager that does the same thing. had a mechanic check everything including pressure and found no problems. dont worry about it unless it drops to zero.

Low oil pressure no start

CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL ON OIL DIP STICK.OIL LEVEL SHOULD BE ON FULL MARK IF NOT ADD OIL UNTIL YOU GET TO FULL MARK.IF OIL LEVEL OKAY.YOUR LOW OIL PROBLEM CAUSED BY WORN DAMAGED OIL PUMP OR WORN ENGINE CRANKSHAFT BEARINGS.IF OIL HAS NOT BEEN CHANGED A LONG TIME CHANGE OIL AND OIL FILTER NOT GUARANTEE TO FIX PROBLEM.BUT COULD BE MINOR THING.OIL FILTER COULD BE STOPPED UP.WEAKEN OIL FLOW BUT LIKE I SAID PROBLEM COULD BE OIL PUMP OR ENGINE BEARINGS.REMOVE OIL SENDING UNIT SCREW IN A OIL PRESSURE GAUGE.TURN ENGINE OVER SEVERAL REVOLUTIONS TO SEE IF OIL PRESSURE BUILD UP TO 40 LBS. SEE 40 - 60 PSI. 2000 RPM.IF NO OIL PUMP TO WEAK .IF OIL PRESSURE RISES WHEN TURN ENGINE OVER.I HAVE SEEN FAULTY OIL PRESSURE SENDING KEEP ENGINE FROM RUNNING BECAUSE OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT WILL DISABLE FUEL PUMP RELAY TO KEEP FROM DAMAGING THE ENGINE.

Oil light on engine is full of oil

HI, The Oil Light comes on to show a low oil pressure not just that it is low on oil. If your not experience any unusual engine noise i would not suspect low oil pressure but more likely a bad oil pressure sending unit.

NO OIL PRESSURE warning came on suddenly. I stopped the engine and started it after 10 mins. It was running fine until the same warning came back. Dip stick reads full. SOMEONE HELP!

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. I understand your concerns. No oil pressure is one of the worst things that canhappen to an engine.

The can be caused by a bad oil sending unit or a problem with the sending unit wiring.

The really is only one way to troubleshoot this and that is to read the oil pressure with a direct pressure gage. Most of the time that involves installing a direct reading gage at the oil sending unit port and verifying the actual engine oil pressure. If it is normal the most probable failue is the sending unit.
If the oil pressure is really low then the following things have to be checked:

1. Oil pump
2. Camshaft bearings
3. Main crankshaft bearings
4. Rod end bearings
5. Oil pump pick up tube in the oil pan

You can pull a valve cover an watch for oil flow but it is NOT going to tell you the OIL pressure.

The only easy fix is that of the oil sending unit and associated wiring. Everything else requires disassembly of engine parts for inspection of clearances.

Low oil light stays on 08 grand prix

Did you check the oil? If it is full, there is something wrong with the sending unit. The oil light is not for oil level but for pressure, it will still read 60 lbs pressure with 1 qt of oil in there. So, if everything checks out, you will need to replace the sending unit, usually found near the filter, sometimes on the pump itself or on the side of the engine, down low, looks like a temp plug with a wire stuck to it. Hope this helps.
