Silverado 2500 hd runs for about 5 miles then cuts off. after sitting for a while it will start and cut off again

Your Chevy doesn't have a inertia fuel cut off switch , Ford's do , not GM .

Mate I use to drive a freightliner and it cut out on me one day, I eventually got it started but cut out again after about 5 minutes, I rang a mechanic to come out and he found a heat sensor wire came off the radiator and that caused the motor to cut out... Hope I haven't wasted your time.......

On my 2007.5 Duramax, the factory remote has been working fine ... I tried this morning again with the remote starter while sitting in the truck and same thing, turned off ....2008 Silverado 2500 HD CCLB Duramax 6 Spd Allison 4X4 Z71 ... shut off engine", basically its doing it foryou as your not in the truck to ... check engine light on wont shift

Sounds like you may have an intermittant code coming in and the dealer should be able to pull it out.2008 Sierra SLT ECSB Z71, Corsa Touring, and GMPP CAI .... the remote start button again the truck WILL shut off and the only way to ... Is the MIL on? When you say HOT do you mean normal operating temperature or above normal?

you need to check the fuel pump sounds like your losing pressure

sounds like weak fuel pump

Has the exhaust ( catalytic converter) been check for proper flow? I would try a test pipe to by-pass converter and see if that helps. You used to be able to buy them, but a good exhaust shop can make one pretty quick, and then try it.

May just be some dirty fuel, or clogged dirty air filter...try putting 2 bottles of fuel injector/carb cleaner in the tank to be sure dirty fuel has been treated. Did your Dynasty sit for a period of time? (Not driven or run for several months, or did you let the fuel tank get very low? Same remedy. Hope this helps..

could be fuel related or i found a bad coil going out will crank and run about 10 miles till the coil gets hot then will shut of, wait about 10 to 20 min. to cool crank up and run some more ,check the coil, hope to help robert b.

Fuel pump is most likely the cause. Probably just barely making the required pressure to start. Needs to maintain 60-66 psi while cranking to start.
