The latch on the fuel door broke. The part that engages the electric release latch broke and the fuel door will not stay closed. Does anybody know where I might find a replacement ? It is screwed on with 2 torx screws.

Any decent auto wrecker should have a dozen of those, or ebay.

2009 Honda Odyssey fuel Door won’t stay closed. The latch is working I can hear it. I can’t find a picture of the inside to see if a latch is missing to close properly help

Open fuel filler door and check the locking pin is visible on the one side. Spray it with wd40 or oil to make sure it is not stuck. Also try pushing and pulling the release lever in the car until it is visible. If still not visible there is an issue with the release mechanism. If not check the locking tongue on the door that it is not damaged bent and the hole is not blocked. If missing door needs to be replaced.

Door latch will not engage. Used WD40, and lubricating grease but still will not engage when trying to close the door

Sounds like someone might have engaged the latch with the door open.....that is....when you look into the latch (in the door) you might find that it is in a closed position ( the "claw like") metal part is down...as if it were closed and engaged on the receiver in the door jam. Take a screw driver...and while lifting up on the door handle, push the latch back up into the door. You should feel it catch in the up position.

Thought door was frozen shut on 96 grand am se so pulled it open and now it won't close latch not engaged and door lines up but won't stay latched shut....

The latch may already be latched like it is closed. You can take a screw driver and put it.. where the latch engages Slightly pry outward agianst the latch while pulling on the door handle. That should release the latch. If you continue to have the problem than the latch will have to be replaced because there is a plastic piece that may be worn out.You will have to remove the door panel to replace the latch. They sell a book on that car that will explain how to remove the door handle(at O'rielly).

1989 chevy cavalier - somehow safety door lock engaged and now I can't close the driver door. How do I unlock it?

  1. This is what probably occured
  2. While the door was open the latch on the door was closed
  3. If the spring inside the latch is broken, Working the inner or outer door release handles will not open the latch.
  4. place a screwdriver in the opening of the latch where the door striker would be if the door was closed.
  5. apply pressure to the latch paw while operating door release.
  6. latch should open.
  7. replacement of the latch will keep this from happening again

Fuel filler door my Jaguar X (2002) will not unlock

Most cars have an emergency fuel filler door release somwhere in the trunk. Look for some kind of pull cord close to the area of the outside fill door.

The driver side door - latch closed with the door open. The manual key will not unlock it, nor will central locking. the door cannot be closed. How do I get the latch to release?

open the door and you will have to release the latch by doing it manually
either by going up or down
have a loock at your mabual if you have it
sometimes you may have to use some force but it is worth it
many times this happened to my bbot
if not than you will have to release panel as '' string'' may have broke or come up dislodged
by the way when doing manually try the handle on the outside as the same time to release latch

My drivers side door on my Nissan Maxima 2004 SL will not close. I've tried everything to no avail!! Please advise. Tried lubricant on door latch but will not engage!! Very frustrating- night light on...

Ok, if you have not slammed the door too hard and you are having a latch problem you need to gather a few things. This works better with two people if you have help. Take a screwdriver and place it in the middle of the latch on the door (where you would expect the bar the latch attaches to on the car would be if the door was shut). Have you other person pull the door handle as if they were opening the door, this will release the door latch itself. As they are pulling the handle, pull the screwdriver towards the inside of the door releasing the latch. I know I have a hard time explaining this method without being able to show you, but this is what you need to do.

Nissan Altima fuel filler release latch broke ... need alternate

Never heard of anything like that.  But those latches are not as secure as most think, just take a flathead screwdriver, put a piece of cloth around it to protect your paint, and pry the door open, just when you think it's about to break something...pop, it opens just like that.  I've done this quite a few times, only broke one so far.  :-P
