When I turn the key in the ignition the car won't start and the starter makes no sound. It has a new battery and a new alternator. What I can I do besides set it on fire?

You may have a bad starter, the best to determine this is by testing for power at the starter, also the battery is new but is it still good and fully charged, you may what to make sure battery is fully charged first, then test starter with a test light, there are two connection at starter, one is a battery cable this has power at all times then the small wire, this should have power when key is held in the crank postion, have someone hold the key while you test. if theres power at both connections then starter is bad, heres a diagram to show you where to test starter. When I turn the key in the ignition the car won't - 5eb28af.jpg

My car will not start. The battery is new and has a full charge and turns everything on when I turn the key but when I try to start it, it will not do anything not even clicking noise.

if the battery is good it is NOT the alternator. the alternator charges the battery, if it won`t start with a new battery the alternator does nothing to affect the situation. check voltages at the starter motor connections for proper voltages even the wires that the ignition switch supplies power to. if you have proper voltages at the starter you can try hitting the starter while someone tries to start the car. if it starts the starter is worn internally and will have to be replaced.

I have a 2004 Dodge Neon and I just replaced the battery and for some reason sometimes when I'm running a lot of errands when I turn it off it won't turn on again. It won't even make any noises...

Something is wrong in your start circuit. From battery to ignition switch, and ending at the starter solenoid. You would have to start checking for where power is lost between the switch and the starter. If you have power to the starter solenoid on the small wire at the starter (can check with a test light while someone holds the key in start), then the starter would need testing.

Acura Tl 2005 won't start

This vehicle is equipped with a chipped ignition system. On your dash warning lights, when turn key into on position you'll notice a yellow key symbal, it should flash then go out. If it flashes then goes to solid on, it means the system does not recognize signal from key. This can be because of wrong key(original valet key will not start car) or key for whatever reason has been deprogrammed. Which can only be done by dealership unfortunately. If system is working(light does go out) then you need to look at possible brake switch sensor,park/neutral safety switch on shifter, and for signal at started when key turned to start position

2001 jaguar s-type won't crank battery new and charged. Turn the ignition car won't make a sound

many things will cause no start problems could have faulty ignition switch.use test light see if power going to starter if not check ignition fuse to starter.if power going to starter, more likely starter solenoid or starter faulty.if ignition fuse okay and starter and solenoid okay still no start problem could be in the ignition switch or inhibitor switch faulty.code scan for faulty theft security system which will also cause no start conditions.

It sounds like a fault in the starter circuit. It could be a defective neutral safety switch, starter solenoid, or possible a defective ignition switch but I doubt it. Can you hear the starter solenoid??? I'm willing to bet the problem is either with starter relay, neutral safety switch, or starter solenoid.

It sounds like you need a new starter. If you hear the starter click when you turn the key to start, replace your starter since you already replaced the battery. You might want to have your alternator checked out, or when you get your car started, test the battery terminals with a multimeter. You should have around 14 volts with the car running. If not, you will need a new alternator. The alternator won't keep the car from starting though, unless the battery was drained because it wasn't charged. Even then it is the battery keeping the car from starting.

If the starter is not clicking, check your fuses under the hood. If all checks out, you may have a bad ignition switch.
