EVER CHANGE OUT THE CAM BELT, THEY ARE last from 60k to 100k MILES AND THEN SLIP. cam TIMING,
the problem is easy, most times, this belt on the cam died, ran to 100k miles they die.
lack of proper service is the cause
and cam sensor fails. even replaced 10 times as is must timed wrong.

To answer the OP's question, yes the 3.2L is an interference motor.
that means if engine is cranked or run with belt slipped or broken, the valves BEND
and a cylinder leak down test fails (hand turned)
