.44 is the gap, but you can purchase some that don't require gap. I would prefer the non gap. But these are sometimes a little more expensive not because non gap but a better plug.
Usual gap is about .030 thousands of an inch,unless the coding on the plug says 1.0 mm or 1.5 mm,usually the last symbol ie RV15Y4, the 4 denotes 1.0 mm gap,6= 1.5mm gap,R =resistor,V=14mm .460 taper seat,5/8 hex [wrench],and Y for projected core nose
