When both lights go on, it's a wheel speed sensor that isn't giving proper data to the abs control module which is like a computer.

If you use the OBD-II ABS Brake scanner, you'll probably find one of the wheel speed sensors is open or shorted.

The abs and traction control both use wheel speed to determine how to brake.

I bought an Actron OBD-II Brake Scan Tool off of Amazon for $116 delivered. It paid for itself.

You probably will have to change a front hub (left or right) in order to get the system working right again. The part goes for about $75 to $100 something.

And, if you have heavy duty J55 brakes, which is rare, then the hub costs over $750.00. That's the kind of hub I have on my Limousine from the year 1997.

Good luck fixing your abs/traction control problem.

Parking Brake, ABS, Traction Control & Anti Skid lights on

One or more of the sensors in the wheels that are responsible for these functions is faulty. It is sending a signal that is mucking up the calculations that control the brakes and engine for traction control and anti skid. All of them need to be checked!

Anti lock, trac off, service vehicle, check engine lights are on &the brake pedal starts to stop then slips with humming sound repeatedly so what is it?

Year make and model?

You'll need to start by pulley codes. There could be more than one problem, but your description sounds like a condition known as overactive ABS. This is caused by a wheel speed sensor dropping or loosing its signal at slow speeds which fools the ABS into thinking the wheel locked up.

Each wheel will have a sensor so having the code information will make it a lot easier to determine which wheel is having the problem.

the traction control light will come on anytime the ABS light is on because the traction control relies on the ABS to function correctly. Usually the check engine light will not come on when there is an ABS issue which leads me to believe there are two issues.

My traction control light and my abs lights keep coming on what does that mean and how do i fix it?

The abs is your anti-lock braking system. It may work with your traction control light, I'm not sure. But you apparently have a problem with your anti-lock brakes. It could be the hydraulics or it could be the brakes themselves. I would have it checked out.

Brake peddle is chattering 2003 ion and would like to pull the anti lock brake fuse (if safe ) until i can afford the repair. I would like to know witch fuse to pull?ABS is on and traction control

If brake pedal is chattering or pulsating it is most likely because you need either front or rear rotors, or both. They are rusted or out of round. If there is something wrong with either your abs or traction control, the abs or traction control light will come on & stay on. As soon as these lights come on, it automatically disables abs or traction control. If you would like to take out fuse that disables abs or traction control circuits, it will leave the lights on.You just wont have their functions. If by some strange condition your chattering goes away, then there is indeed something wrong with your abs or traction control.Fuses are labeled abs or traction either under hood or in your fuse panel in car.

You need to have the abs system scanned for codes. You likely have a bad wheel speed sensor on one of wheels.

ABS, Service Engine Light

This is normal for your anti-lock brakes to quit when the abs light is on.What you will need to do is retrieve the codes and then you can find out what part of the abs system is giving you the problem. This will also cause the check engine light to come on.You can post back and I can help you with the code or codes that are in the brake control module.Hope this helps.
