How to install a fuel pump on a 1983 mustang v8

not sure on step by step info on the pump installation on these,, but i would first change the fuel filter and check the injectors are not blocked

they are equipped with a fuel pump reset switch located behind the panel inside the trunk on the drivers side. Try hitting that button.

check the block and see if it is flat where you are mounting the pump next apply a thin layer of silicone with your gaskets to promote a better seal and also check the pump to make sure all surfaces are true

I went through alot of the same with my 89 f-150.does your truck have dual tanks.if so it could be a selector switch on the dash.my problem was a bare wire was grounding out to the frame, right about where the harness cuts across the frame to the tanks.also check your connectors for rust and corrosion. There also may be a fuel pump safety shut off switch that has tripped,these are usually located inside the cab on the passenger side under the dash near your heat ducts. good luck. Dale

If you have the mechanical fuel pump, the pump located at the side of the engine. And if you have the electrical fuel pump, the pump located inside the tank. Remove your backseat if there is a hole, if not, you need to bring it down the tank with a floor jack with the wood.. There are two bolts and two straps too. ok
