After starting my 1999 Dodge Durango, when I take my foot off the gas, the vehicle shuts off. As long as my foot stays on the gas pedal, it stays running.

I had the same problem it was the idle air control valve, I purchased another but problem remained, so clean old one with carb cleaner and steel wool put back on and worked great again.

How do i adjust gear cable to stay in park on a 1999 dodge durango

It is usually not the cable that is the problem, but the cinch assembly. It is the same problematic assembly on many Chrysler vehicles including your. Go to a junkyard and get a replacement.... the whole shebang, pedal and all. Don't need the cable.

My 1998 dodge caravan won't stay running. starts up but shuts down instantantly or when i take my foot off the gas pedal,

ok i have a 1998 durango with the 5.2L 318 engine. had trouble with a bad cell in my battery. I went out bought an optima red top battery for it 800cca. put it in and had same trouble. No start without putting foot on gas. wouldn't stay running without holding foot on gas. CPU has to relearn it's programming once you unplug it for long periods of time. mine was without power for about 2-3 weeks till i got new battery. Start with this.. first check under air filter make sure a squirrel hasn't made a mess under your air filter and it's clogging the air intake. Then pull off the lid to your injector cover ( the screw down lid coming from the air box ( with air filter in it) to "carb") make sure all your cables move freely. put that all back together and close hood. Start truck with foot slightly on gas pedal to get started. keep it at about 1k to 1500 rpm for about 1-2 minutes. Rev motor to about 2500rpm and let it die out if it will. Get out lock doors with key fob if you have it. if not make sure to lock doors. ( trust me it worked for me) let sit for 5 minutes. come back out and unlock door and relock door 3 times with fob ( if you have it ) or key if you don't have a fob. Then unlock it with the key and enter vehicle. Start truck as before and keep it around 1k to 1500 rpm again for about 30 seconds rev it up and should keep running. Mine did. I think the iac was stuck from sitting and has now since loosened up.
Good luck hope ti works for you.

My 99 dodge durango wont stay cranked without holding down the gas and it only happends when it the motor is cool and after holding the gas down and reving the motor for about 10mins or more it will stay...

hey that sounds familiar!have you checked your idle control sensor? let me tell you 1st you crank it cold, you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal until it warms up.but then when you come up to red light quick stop, the engine dies or wants to stop? sometimes it starts fine? but when it does, after running for a few minutes,it idles up and down? when it's warm after driving 15miles or so,you shut it off and try a restart, and the engine starts, but idles up and down? all of the above are signs of a bad idle control sensor.the part costs about $20.00 u.s. 2bolts removal 1 PLUG IN REMOVAL you may be able to do it yourself.have an autozone or advance autoparts store employee show you where it's located.you would be shocked at how many great people there are left in the world! i'm answering your question for free at midnight from the u.s. think i'm bored? no. just love helping people like you! thank you so much!

Durango starts sometimes. then acts like its getting no gas and dies. if i stomp on gas it will keep running till i let off. bad gas ? fuel filter ? fuel pump?

I would suggest starting with the less expensive solutions first. If you pull the air intake hose off the throttle body and open the throttle with the engine off look down inside if it is black try spraying it out with throttle body cleaner make sure to spray it out good. Afterwards start it you may have to keep your foot on the gas for a few minutes to make sure it doesn't stall then take your foot off the gas pedal and see if it stays running if it does your throttle body just needed cleaned. Note do not use carb cleaner use throttle body cleaner only, carb cleaner can damage the sensor in your throttle body.

Durango stalls

This could be allot of things like clogged intake manifold or a bad fuel pressure regulator or EGR valve to even a dirty intake air filter or plugged catalytic converter that's just to name a few

Car takes a few seconds to start & shuts off immediately

how old is your battery? because if it is weak the idle air control solenoid will not sit in the right location thus the vehicle will stall and wont stay running .replacing a weak battery will fix this problem .
