My 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix just dies while I'm driving. On the DIC screen it says loss of power due to loss of traction control, then power shutting down. What causes this? Usually after it sets for awhile, it will start again and then do the same thing. We were told by a mechanic that the problem was in the ignition switch and then in the fuse block. Is this true?

I had the same problem my car. It started once in a while until the light would not go off. My husband looked at it and he said the wire on the antilock brake bearing hub corroded and came off. Maybe yours is starting to corrode. My husband said to tell you that there are two wires that come out of the back of the bearing hub. He soddered it together on mine and I hav not had a problem since.

SOURCE: abs and traction control light faults after a brake job. 2005 Pontiac grand prix

a quick test is to disconnect the sensor connector hook up and ohm meter to the sensor connector on the hub side not the engine side and spin the hub if the resistance rises and falls you're most likely ok if the resistance reads 0 or infinite you have found the bad sensor..this won't always be the case but it's a good start in the right direction

Why does my 2005 pontiac grand prix say service variable effort steerin, traction control off, and service abs?

jack up the four points of the vehicle one at a time shake the tire up to down and left to right, you have bad hub assemblies which tells you your ABS IS BAD take it from there and see what lights disappear, keep me posted and we will go from there.

Where is the fuse for my abs and traction control on 2005 grand prix

Under the hood. Box is marked "main fuse"...GM makes it easy....they index all of the fuse names and locations on the underside of the cover. However....they do ground some circuits off of others sometimes....so if you are checking fuses for power loss, check the fuse block in the vehicle as well. All of this info and diagrams are in your owners manual too

My traction control botton wont work on my 2004 grand prix is this a diy problem?

one question is your abs or brake light on. you might have a wheel abs hub going out and not reading that will prevent traction control to work
