How do I change fuel filter in 2005 Ram 1500 4.7L? If it is located in tank are there any tricks to getting it out more easily? My engine seems to surge from idle to around 1100 RPM down to 600 RPM when I come to stop, change from drive to reverse, and when I bring truck back to stop again. Then it smooths back out after couple seconds. am I barking up the wrong tree here with the fuel filter? Thanks Jerrod

Sounds like you may be experiencing one of a few possible issues. If you have an external fuel filter, you may consider in replacing this first. If the filter is part the fuel pump inside the fuel tank, may have to replace the entire unit. Might need to drop the tank from the vehicle if you do not have a was to access from the inside.
Do you have any codes in your ECM ?

SOURCE: 2003 Dodge DSL 2500 transmission shifting problems

sounds like you should start by dropping the pan and changing the filter, put cheap fluid in it or reuse the old fluid if its not too bad bring it to a shop and have a transmission flush performed with a good flush machine your valve body is sticking and this should clear things up please rate -jeff

SOURCE: 1997 DODGE RAM 1500 360 VERY LOW IDLE

I think you have ruled out the engine with all the parts you have replace. The transmission torque convertor is in lock up mode all the time. The engine is having to hard of a time to stay at the normal idle. The over drive clutches and soleniod are most likely damaged in the transmission.
I think you should take the vehicle to a trasnmission shop , The can check the torque convetror soleniods and pressure control soleniod.

The oil light coming on bothers me. I know you have the rebuilt engine in the vehicle but I think the oil pump in the engine is starting to go out or could be weak. The lower bearings connected to the crank shaft might be starting to leak. Have the oil pressure checked .

How do i change the fuel filter

Not sure i know where it is on this year ,To be honest i rarely need to change a fuel filter on a petrol engine vehicle .Diesel yes on the peugeot /citreon range of diesel engines as they seem to get metal swarf in them (long story) but petrol engines unless they have somehow got water in the tank with the old metal type fuel tanks via condensation but modern vehicles with polypropalene fuel tanks no problem.Anyhow to change a fuel filter then locate where it is and just change as the system will self bleed

Where is fuel filter located on a 2005 Jeep Liberty V6 gas engine?

I cannot seem to find a part number for this vehicle's fuel filter. It is probably a non-serviceable part (N/S) that is inaccessible; usually inside the fuel tank.

Where is the Fuel Filter located on 1988 Dodge Ram 50

1988 Dodge Ram 50 fuel filter is located adjacent to fuel tank. More specifically, the fuel filter is directly above frame rail at front end of fuel tank. The fuel filter and retaining clip can be seen between the two bed mounts on the driver side.
