I have a Dodge Ram (truck) 1500, 1998, turbo diesel (cummins), the transmission broke down (automatic) and I want to buy another one, I haven´t been able to find it.. I live in Dominican Republic. I don´t want to repair this one, I´d rather buy it in USA and bring it here, any idea how to help me?

Good luck. Go to www.LKQ.com and submit a request for a quote on the transmission that you are needing. They may ship it to you. I am not sure if they will, but for the right price it could be done, I am sure.

SOURCE: Charging problem on 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel

I had the same problem on a 94 dodge with the cummins. It seems the crank sensor that reads from a notch on the harmonic balancer was the problem Without this sensor reading that the engine is running the alternator wont charge. Possibly the same problem with yours

SOURCE: number one injector bank on 2006 dodge cummins

you'll notice on your valve cover gasket there is two connectors.. the one up front is your 1-3 the one in the rear is your 4-6... you can remove your valve cover and check the connections from the injector connectors to the
connectors on the valve cover.. check for an open.. however you could also have a fault internally in 1 of your injectors in that bank as well.. hope this info helped..

If I need a new transmission band, do I have to buy a new transmission?

There are no new transmissions

New- is only installed on the assy line one time

No --- you have to totally disassemble to get to
any bands,so you always rebuilt it

Just the removal from any vehicle, given how heavy
they have gotten, is a challenge

20 years ago even, it took two people just to put the
trans on the work bench & that was a 4 spd not 5,6 or 7

The only way you would need a band, is if the spot welds
broke on the ends

On a ford or dodge diesel, your best to highly modify the trans,
as they can't take the torque of a diesel, if you have large tires,
or tow

Although you didn't mention it, the speedometer probably bounces also. Replacing the speed sensor on the side of the transmission should solve both your problems. Good luck

Do you think asking 12,000 dollars for a truck is too much??

Too much milage, In my opinion. You will start experiencing problems eventually. You can but a newer model truck for that amount of money. Of course you can do what you want. But Dodge is known to have constant problems with the transmission. I have experienced this with people that I know.Your vote would be appreiciated. If this helps.
