Yes they are the same transmission outside and have the same disignation of 42LE, but they may be different gear ratio's, they have tags on them that can id the internal differences, the 300 uses a 3.5 liter, which is not avail in the Conord

Your best bet would be to take it to AAMCO or some other repair shop an have them run diagnostics on the car . They could hook up scanner an be able to tell you right away , instead of replacing parts you don't need .

It would have to be running for the alternator to charge the battery.
Did you check all of the fuses and the connections on the alternator with a meter ?

sounds like you might have disconnected the shifter cable or even broken it you must have it checked out or jack it up and do it yourself not to hard to look for the cable on the side of the tranny.good luck

I have a 1999 chrysler concord and the shift cable stuck while in gear, I cannot move the shifter up or down what is the problemwith the cable?
Cable is shot. Change the shift cable (cable from shifter to transmission) Also spray some WD40 on the shift linkage on the trans and work it back and forth to loosen it up before you put the new cable on. Good luck
