Get someone to change the ignition switch. Chevy is notorious for having cheesey ignition switch tumblers. I just had the exact same problem with my chevy truck.

Is there a heater illum bulb in a 2001 VW Beatle

Set the fan speed switch to position #2. Grab the fan speed knob and pull it straight off. It might fight you a bit, but it will come off. Once you have the knob off, lookinside the control unit and you will see the bulb. I have seen these just fall out of the socket on their own.

Ignition switch starting to give trouble?

chk at the base of the steering column on the top side. Ther you should feel or see the ignition switch itself. It is replaceable but may only need adjusting A little cramped to get to, but you do not need to pull out the column. Good Luck - Ned
