There is a set screw in it,just remove it,if it does not come off, then use finger polish remover,or acid tone,to remove the glue,it is not supposed to have glue holding it to the mirror ,but some may have got in there,if this was helpful, please rate, and thank you.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE REAR VIEW MIRROR ON MY 1999 BUICK LESABRE LIMITED

  • Push the mirror lens upward so it faces the roof of your Buick LeSabre.

  • Place the eight-pointed star head of the Torx driver into the setscrew located in the base of the rearview mirror. Turn the Torx driver counterclockwise. This releases the clamping pressure on the mirror.

  • Slide the mirror upwards to remove it from its metal bracket.

  • Place the base of the replacement mirror against the windshield, directly above the metal bracket. Slide the mirror down into the bracket. The bracket has a groove on each side into which the mirror will slide.Secure the mirror to the bracket by tightening the setscrew clockwise with the Torx driver.

Reglue the rear view mirror. How do I remove the metal disc to glue on the window? Every other one I've done their was a set screw. When you remove the screw the small metal seat slides out. This one is...

They changed it. You have to slide the mounting bracket out the bottom of the mirror case. It's a tight fit but the mirror assembly will slide off, toward the roof. Once you have it off you will see a small slot on the bottom of the mounting bracket. Slide a small screwdriver in the slot and push toward the mounting plate (windshield). The plate that goes on the windshield should pop off. Hope this helps.

Seperate rearview mirror from plate both came off

Replacing the rear view mirror on a Ford Explorer is easy. The only obstacle you might encounter is fear of breaking the glued metal plate off the windshield. Do not sweat it. You can buy glues at the auto parts store to reattach the mirror to the windshield (Difficulty: Moderately Easy).

    Instructions:
    1. Tap gently at the base of the mirror where it slides on over the metal plate glued to the windshield and pull upward. Some rear view mirrors have a small Allen screw that tightens the base of the rear view mirror to the metal plate. Disconnect the electrical plugs if your rear view mirror has them.
    2. Pull the rear view mirror clear of the metal plate. Clean around the metal plate glued to the windshield. If the metal plate has come off because of harsh weather or from hammering too hard at it, reattach it with glue designed for this job.
    3. Clean the area where you will be attaching the metal plate on the windshield. Apply the glue evenly on the surface of the metal plate that will go against the window. Be sure to clean and scrape off all the old glue before applying the new glue. Gently push the metal plate against the windshield in the spot you wanted it and hold tight for five minutes.
    4. Wait a day before putting the base of the mirror or replacement rear view mirror onto the metal plate. Do not force the base over the plate. Forcing it will likely dislodge it again. Press firmly until it will not slide along the grooves of the metal plate. Reconnect your electrical plugs and tighten the Allen screw if your new mirror has one. Adjust the mirror according to your safe viewing preference

Hope help with this (remember rated this help). Good luck.

How do i get the rear view mirror back on?

I am assuming you are talking about the interior rear view mirror and not the side rear view mirror. Most auto parts stores sell an adhesive glue to fix the interior rear view mirror. Most of these mirrors have two parts to them. One part is the bracket that glues to the windshield and the other part is the rear view mirror assembly. Before gluing the bracket to the glass check and see how the mirror assembly attaches to the bracket. There will often be a screw that fixed the two together.
