The power steering fluid resivoir is located on the right hand fender up front under the hood. The pump is mounted below the altenator on the front side of the engine. The lines go down the right side of engine compartment to the power steering rack located at the bottom center behind the engine. Hope this helps, let me know.

Steering wheel is hard to turn...is that power steering fluid? Is there a specific kind for 2001 Zx2?

Does your car make a groaning noise when you turn the wheel? It could be a few different things. The first thing you want to do is check your power steering fluid. If it's low, top it off and see if that helped. It just takes a standard power steering fluid, nothing specific.

If the power steering fluid was low and that fixed the problem, you need to ask yourself the question - Why was the fluid low? There's probably a leak somewhere that needs to be fixed.

If the power steering fluid wasn't low, then there's a couple other things it could be. If the car makes a groaning noise when you turn the wheel, chances are that you have a bad power steering pump. If there's no noise and you just don't have any power steering at all then it could be a bad pump or a bad power steering rack.

Hopefully this helps you figure it out. Good Luck!

I have a 2001 ford focus zx2 and there is a noise coming from the power steering pump area is it hard to change?

First check the level of fluid in the pump, could be low. If not replacing it is not hard depending on experience, but for around $60 a mechanic should be able to fix it.

94 Ford F350 power steering real hard left or right pump or gear?

First thing to check would be the power steering pump. Check the fluid level and with the truck running, you should see fluid moving in the reservoir.

Why is there tension on my steering wheel when i try an turn my 2002 zx2 for escort

If it became stiff over time, the most reasonable thing to assume is a problem with the Power Steering System: Check the fluid level, if that's fine then the power steering pump may be failing. Before you waste your money on a garage repair, try flushing your old power steering fluid by removing the bottom hose to drain the fluid or use a pressure evacuator to remove it, then put the hose back on and refill it with your engine running in order to turn the pump and run the fliud through. If all else fails, replace the pump.
If your steering become stiff for just a moment while your driving, your pump can be failing just like above. Have it inspected before your replace it.

Seems like grunt or grind in steering colume

What color is the power steering fluid?
If it is dark and/or grayish you may have a power steering pump which has ground itself to death.
While grinding itself....it has contaminated the complete system.
The cure in most Ford products with this PS pump is a complete power steering pump replacement and steering rack change with a good hose/line flushing before reconnecting.

How can i be sure it is power steering

This noise is the power steering pump, it is very common on all Fords that use the Ford style round resovoir pump, make sure u have the system flushed out before u install the new pump or the ground up parts of the old pump will ruin the new one.
